Johnny Depp will again take the stand in his $US50 million defamation trial against ex-wife, Amber Heard.

Deadline reports that the Hollywood actor, 58, will be called as a witness by Heard’s defence team.

He is expected to appear as the third witness on May 23, US-time, after an anatomy expert and an IPV (intimate partner violence) expert.

Heard’s legal team did not comment when contacted by Deadline, however a source close to Depp’s said he will “almost certainly” take the stand again.
Judge Penny Azcarte is understood to want closing arguments to be presented on May 27.
The defamation trial centres on a 2018 Washington Post opinion piece written by Heard, in which she referred to herself as a survivor of domestic abuse.

Depp has strongly denied the allegations, saying he is a victim of abuse.

‘HE SAVED MY LIFE’

Meantime, Courtney Love has shown her support for Depp amid his ongoing legal battle against Heard.

Per the New York Post, the controversial singer recalled an incident where Depp saved her life after she overdosed near The Viper Room.

The club, located on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, was originally co-owned by Depp and a hotspot for celebrities in the ’90s.

“I don’t really wanna make judgments publicly. I just want to tell you that Johnny gave me CPR in 1995 when I overdosed outside The Viper Room,” Love, 57, said in a video posted to a friend’s social media.

At the time of the incident, Love was dealing with the death of her husband Kurt Cobain, with whom she had daughter Frances Bean Cobain, now 29.

Love said Depp reached out to her daughter and wrote Frances a letter for her 13th birthday.

“Johnny, when I was on crack and Frances was having to suffer through that with all these social workers, wrote her a four-page letter that she’s never showed me,” Love said, noting that she didn’t “really know” Depp at the time.

“You know, she said to me when she was 13, ‘Mama, he saved my life.’ And she said it again.”

Love said that while she was taking Depp’s side in the defamation trial, she had “empathy” for Heard.

“I have a lot of empathy for what that must feel like for Amber. F*** man, wow, can you imagine being her?” Love said.
