As jurors deliberate over the explosive defamation trial filed by Johnny Depp against his ex-wife Amber Heard, the actress is expected to flee from the spotlight to her desert hideaway.

The 36-year-old Aquaman actress will reportedly seek solace in her $1.3 million home in California’s Yucca Valley, near Joshua Tree National Park.

The property was first purchased by Heard in 2019 for nearly $A800,000 at the time under a private trust in the name of her accountant, according to property records seen by The New York Post.

However, it appears she didn’t actually move into the three-bedroom and three-bathroom home until earlier this year, Dirt reported.

“The chance to own a once in a lifetime property,” the original listing said.

And as Heard gears up for some serious scrutiny as the public defamation trial nears the end, it’s not the only intense heat she will face.

“Amber loves spending time in the desert. It’s the one place she can get away from everything,” an insider who claimed to be close to the situation told the Mirror.

“She’s really ­connected with the artistic ­community there, and feels she experiences a true getaway.

“Joshua Tree is full of cool hipsters and it’s just her scene. She can get away from it all and it’s a sanctuary.”

Other features in Heard’s property include a custom built a 33-metre-long bridge that leads to a mountainside gazebo.

Solid iron front doors, a surround stereo system wired throughout the home, and a 1,200-square-foot garage are also included.

The main bathroom comes with dual closets, ground-stone dual sinks and a temperature control valve in the shower and tubs.

Heard secretly welcomed a baby girl, Oonagh Paige, via surrogate in July 2021.

Her daughter was seen at the residence in one of her latest photos posted to Instagram amid Heard’s claims that she’s received violent threats urging her to “put my baby in the microwave.”

Depp first filed the suit against Heard over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in December 2018 in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”

Heard did not name Depp in the piece, but he sued her for implying he was a domestic abuser and is seeking $US50 million ($A67m) in damages.

She countersued for $US100 million ($A139m), claiming she suffered “rampant physical violence and abuse.”

DEPP AND HEARD’S NEXT MOVE REVEALED

As the world awaits the verdict, both Heard and Depp are preparing to feature in more blockbusters.

Heard is slated to appear in two films: Run Away With Me and In the Fire.

Run Away With Me follows an American in Paris who falls helplessly in love with a model before they discover the “criminal underworld” of the modelling industry in Europe, according to IMDb.

In In the Fire, Heard is expected to play a New York psychiatrist in the 1890s who visits a Colombian plantation to “care for a disturbed boy”. While treating the child, she sparks tension with a priest who believes the boy is possessed.

These roles are in addition to her appearance in next year’s Aquaman and the Last Kingdom, in which her role was significantly cut.

Depp is rumoured to star in the Beetlejuice sequel, directed by Tim Burton.

The 58-year-old’s name was spotted on the cast list online, which will also include Winona Ryder, 50, who is listed to reprise her character, along with Michael Keaton, 70, who is also slated to reprise his starring role from the 1988 classic.

Heard’s income has come predominantly from her acting and as endorsements with beauty and jewellery brands, including Bulgari and L‘Oreal.

The 36-year-old made her film debut in the movie Friday Night Lights in 2004. She went on to work on many other films including All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Pineapple Express and Zombieland.

She also appeared in TV shows including Criminal Minds, Californication and Hidden Palms.

However, much of what would have been Heard’s accumulated wealth has been tied up in various lawsuits and settlements, including from her ongoing court battle with Depp.

Heard lives in Yucca Valley, California, and is reportedly set to move with her one-year-old daughter Oonagh to a $A1.392 million three-bedroom family property in Joshua Tree.

The defamation trial has laid the couple’s finances bare, and revealed that Heard earned nearly $A14 million in gross income between 2013 and 2019.
