NRL star Jarryd Hayne is a married man just one month after announcing his engagement.
The former Parramatta Eels star wed partner Amellia Bonnici on Australia Day after he proposed to her at Christmas last year.
Hayne shared a picture on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon of the happy couple embracing, revealing their wedding day marked exactly five years since he met Ms Bonnici.
“Mr and Mrs Hayne,” the 32-year-old captioned the snap. “We met on 26th of Jan 5 years ago. Thank God for sorting us out and realising we meant to be.”
The couple share a daughter together, four-year-old Beliviah Ivy, and also revealed news of their engagement via Instagram last month.
It comes as reports of Hayne’s wedding surfaced yesterday with the wedding party spotted at the Pullman Magenta Shores Resort on the Central Coast.
Hayne wrote it was “unfortunate” details of his nuptials had leaked before the couple had a chance to announce it but thanked their wedding guests for attending the “unbelievable” celebrations.
The event follows a tumultuous year for Hayne, who was charged with aggravated sexual assault and inflicting actual bodily harm on a woman on NRL Grand Final night on 30 September 2018.
The case is set for a retrial in March after the jury was discharged when it failed to reach a verdict in December.
Hayne has pleaded not guilty.
