The latest star has been evicted from the I’m A Celebrity jungle, and this time it was Peter Daicos’ turn to say his goodbyes.

It’s been a tense week for the campmates as the nightly evictions have seen the camp whittled down to a few remaining players.

Julia Morris and Rob Irwin wandered into camp again tonight, this time to reveal that it was Daicos who had received the fewest votes from the public and would be leaving immediately.

However, the retired AFL star played his entire 250-game career with Collingwood until his retirement in 1993, didn’t seem sad about not making it to the final.

“Thank you, thank you for guys! You guys made it what it is. Nothing else, nothing short of brilliant. Thank you,” he said after the announcement was made.

Now, only seven celebrities remain to fight it out for the title of King or Queen of the jungle.

After leaving the jungle, Daicos sat down with Irwin and Morris to talk about his time in camp.

He told the hosting duo: “The time may have come, the energy levels are a bit down but it is bittersweet. We’ve been here for quite a while and we’re not far from the finish line.

“It’s 25 days and we took a bit of pleasure in marking off each day and when I first came in, I had a look at the log on the opposite side to where we were marking and the last crew had gone in 31 days and after the third day I went, wow, what an effort.

“But somehow you acclimatise,” he continued. “You get starved – I’d love to know the time. I don’t know what the time is!”

On Sunday night, Hollywood star Frankie Muniz became the first celebrity to voluntarily walk out of the South African jungle.

After three weeks on the gruelling Channel 10 reality series, the former teen star left camp due to personal reasons in emotional scenes on Sunday night’s episode.

On the eve of finals week, Muniz – who was one of the biggest names headlining this season of the long-running show – hit breaking point as he dealt with feelings of guilt regarding his family, including wife Paige Price and their three-year-old son, Mauz Mosley.

“I had no idea what to expect coming in here,” he tearfully began.

“The weird part is, I’m not an emotional person because I’ve been so busy, I’m almost numb. But I’ve felt so many incredible feelings here with you guys.

“My current situation with my wife and son is … I’m guilty of not noticing what they do for me.

“Hearing my wife say that my son is sad that I don’t play trucks with him, I realise I’ve been home so many days, and when I’m home I’m not present. And I’m so ready to be present.”

He finished, “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here.”
