Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg jets into Sydney to film Ladbrokes ad

The Hollywood star jetted into Sydney, skipping local COVID quarantine and choosing a $400,000 private self-isolation stint.

Hollywood hunk Mark Wahlberg is a few days in to mandatory quarantine after flying in to Australia by private jet on Sunday.

The Instant Family and Boogie Nights star is understood to be spending the time with a few close friends, bunkered down at a private property in the township of Federal outside Byron Bay.

Confidential can confirm Wahlberg is not here to shoot a movie, but instead a global television campaign for online betting agency, Ladbrokes.

The campaign must have a big budget, given the process of self quarantining, which has to be authorised by NSW Police, is rumoured to be costing him more than $400,000.

Super-fit father of four Wahlberg, 49, is believed to have brought in a full gym set-up for the property to keep his health in check.

He will fly back to Sydney after quarantine to shoot the commercial.

He has been quiet on Instagram since his arrival, having spent the annual American Thanksgiving holiday with wife Rhea and their children Ella, 16, Michael, 14, Brendan, 12, and Grace, 10.

Wahlberg is the latest of many Hollywood stars to venture Down Under.

Byron Bay is a hub of celebrity activity, with current major film and television productions including Nicole Kidman’s Nine Perfect Strangers and Rose Byrne’s Seriously, Red.
