Helena Christensen posts tribute to Michael Hutchence after head injury accusation

Helena Christensen has shared a series of topless photos of late INXS icon Michael Hutchence, days after his sister slammed her in an interview.

Danish supermodel Helena Christensen has posted a tribute to her late former boyfriend Michael Hutchence, days after his sister accused her of failing to tell his family about a head injury he sustained.

The supermodel, 53, who dated the INXS rocker for four years in the early 1990s after he split from Kylie Minogue, took to Instagram to share a series of throwback photos to mark 25 years since his death.

The black and white snaps show her and Hutchence embracing topless as they pose to the camera.

In the caption, Christensen wrote: “Hey Michael, was just on the phone with some friends of yours who all love you very much.

“We shared some beautiful memories and of course we laughed a lot cause being around you was so fun and joyous.

“You made everyone feel alive and loved, there was always such a magical light around you ~ a light that will never go out.

“Thank you @fabrizioferriofficial for sharing these contact sheets with me.”

Hutchence died after taking his own life in a Sydney hotel room at the age of 37.

The post comes after Hutchence’s half-sister Tina, lashed out at Christensen for not sharing that the INXS star had suffered a brain injury during a holiday in Denmark in 1992.

Tina Hutchence said the family only became aware that her famous brother suffered a brain injury during a road rage assault by a taxi driver three years ago. The musician died in 1997.

The grieving sister of the rocker said she remained “angry” with Christensen for not letting the star’s family know what had happened to him.

“I know Michael was so happy with Helena and there was a time when I could not imagine them not being together,” she toldThe Sun.

“But I did feel angry when I first found out about the assault, as I felt it was her duty to say something to his family.”

Michael’s sister Tina said it was Helena’s ‘duty’ to tell the family about the assault.

Tina spoke of the family’s distress over the “awful stories” about the star following his death, including that he died from a sex act gone wrong, adding that she believed he would still be alive had it not been for his brain injury.

“There were all these awful stories about Michael after he died, so for Helena not to tell us about the head injury was wrong.

She was very close to our parents and could have easily reached out,” she said. “I’m sure that if Michael didn’t have that accident in Denmark, he would still be with us today.”

It comes as U2 frontman Bono recently opened up about his tumultuous friendship with Hutchence and partner Paula Yates.

In his memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story Bono wrote that he and his wife Ali Hewson were close with the couple, but things changed when Hutchence and Yates started heavily using drugs.

He writes that they went into “free fall – spiralling down the vortex of a recreational drug use that had become hard work for everyone, especially their family, especially the younger ones”.

“As their behaviour changed, our friendship became strained and we grew uncomfortable during their visits.”

He says the friendship was over for good after Hutchence and Yates asked Bono and Hewson to be godparents to their daughter Tiger Lily, born in 1996.

Bono says the couple were so “wigged out” by the pair’s drug use, they declined the offer, hoping it would help guide them to re-evaluate their choices.
