Former Bach contestant Florence Moerenhout says ‘villains are villains’
Florence Moerenhout has dropped a reality TV bombshell in defence of TV networks blamed for “unfair editing”.

Recent weeks have seen a number of ex-reality TV contestants claim they were “unfairly edited” by their relevant networks, but one former contestant says the camera doesn’t lie.
Speaking to news.com.au this week, former Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise contestant Florence Moerenhout says in her experience, “a villain is a villain”.

When asked about the recent avalanche of aggrieved ex-contestants from programs including the Bachelor franchise and Married At First Sight slamming their portrayal in light of a landmark workers’ compensation case against Channel 7, Florence said, contrarily, The Bachelor was pretty accurate.
“Some people from Bachelor in Paradise were portrayed exactly how they acted, if anything they came off better. So that makes me cautious when others come and say they were edited,” the 30-year-old said.
“I don’t know how it works on other shows like Married At First Sight, but in so many situations for me it’s been like ‘I was there, and this is exactly the type of behaviour you showed’,” she said.
“You know, if anything they're even worse in real life. People have to take a look at how they acted if they just regret how they looked and they really are oblivious to their behaviour.
“Usually if they look like “villains”, they are villains,” she concluded.
Florence was a contestant on the most recent season of Bachelor in Paradise, where she clashed with Bill Goldsmith after he accused her of lying for attention, and ended up with Davey Lloyd, only to discover after the show that he actually had a girlfriend.
Since his appearance on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, Bill Goldsmith has been vocal about being a victim of poor editing, recently posting to Instagram to share that it left him “a broken man”.
After making her stance on “unfair editing” clear, Florence went on to say recent trolling from viewers had gone “too far”.
“It makes me angry,” she said when asked about the abuse hurled at Bachelor runner-up Abbie Chatfield.
“I’ve come away really well from all these shows. Some people didn’t like me and everybody gets trolled, but I never had really personal attacks like Abbie. I didn’t have anyone who hated my guts.”
Commenting on the rampant body-shaming and slut-shaming levelled at the 23-year-old reality star, Florence passionately backed her fellow Bach alum.
“I would stand up for Abbie Chatfield any day because I feel like she is all of us. She’s just owning her sexuality and owning who she is and she looks good! What kind of 23-year-old wouldn’t want to have sex with a guy they’re dating? What, she’s not going to wear a bikini if she’s at the beach?,” Florence said in reference to the criticism against Abbie for telling Matt Agnew she wanted to be intimate with him.
“We all speak like that. We’re not skanky and we’re not cheap, it’s normal,” she added.
Florence – who says she is happily single and “waiting for the right person to come along” – is gearing up to host a “speed dating” event in Melbourne later this month with a focus on forming friendships over romantic connections.
“It should just be a really fun night, it’s something a bit different and you’re actually talking to people face-to-face rather than meeting on an app.”
