IT wouldn’t be the ARIA Awards without a couple of stilted interviews with some Aussie musicians. And Fitzy & Wippa’s cross with 5SOS was a bit of a mess.

Early on in the televised broadcast, Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa crossed to Aussie band 5 Seconds Of Summer in Los Angeles.

Sitting on a couch and dressed in their pyjamas, with several Australian flags hanging behind them, the boys were quite relaxed about the chat.

It was lacklustre from the beginning, with technical issues causing poor audio quality. The audio delay also made things awkward when we had to listen to several seconds of silence before the band half-heartedly chuckled at the host’s jokes.

Things then spiralled even further when the radio duo asked the boys a fairly simple question.

“What do you want to say to your fans, guys, they are watching right now, screaming,” Fitzy said.

“Please excuse the mangina in the pyjama pants,” one of the boys said with slightly spread legs. “Don't zoom in.”

And with that, Fitzy and Wippa swiftly wrapped things up.

“And we’re gonna throw to Axel Whitehead later on as well,” Fitzy joked, referring to the 2006 ARIA Awards where the former Australian Idol contestant flashed his bits on stage.

“Guys, good luck tonight and hopefully we throw to you later on.”

Judging from the reaction on Twitter, we’re not the only ones who hope they don’t cross back.
