MODEL and TV presenter Fiona Falkiner is feeling blessed to have falling pregnant relatively early on in her IVF journey.

The former host of The Biggest Loser and partner Hayley Willis this week announced they are expecting their first child after two at home attempts, one Intrauterine insemination (IUI), one frozen embryo transfer and a final fresh embryo transfer.

“In all honesty I was expecting to have to go a lot longer,” a thrilled Falkiner told Confidential.

“My sister did 10 rounds of IVF to have her two babies so I kind of had that in my head that it was going to be a lot longer a process so we feel very blessed that we have fallen, in terms of a lot of IVF stories, this is quite quickly.”

Falkiner, 37, and Willis shared the happy news on social media yesterday and subsequently told Confidential they are looking forward to finding out the gender of their bub.

“I’m feeling really good, I spent the first trimester fending off sickness by eating non-stop,” Falkiner said. “This whole pregnancy for me to get through is just about eating regularly and snacking, carrying a box of snacks around.”

On Instagram, they wrote: “We are so excited about this new chapter of being mums together and giving this little bundle all the love in the world! Thank you to everyone who sent us prayers and baby dust, it worked!!!!”

The couple, who got engaged last year, spoke about their IVF journey in August when they launched their podcast, What The IVF. At the time, Falkiner described the process as “traumatic”.

“Obviously you have your partner but it can actually feel like a really lonely process,” Falkiner said at the time. told Confidential.

“It is you and your body against all odds. Women don’t really talk about it until after the fact. It can be really quite traumatic.”

Sports reporter Willis, 30, also hopes to carry a baby.

“Fi is going first because she is older,” Willis previously said. “I really want to carry a bub too but Fi will go first just because of the body clock on fertility so her going first is best. I will give it a crack after we have our first child.”

The couple were set to wed this year but were forced to pushed back their date due to the coronavirus pandemic.
