Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss reportedly checked into a motel just one day before his body was found.

Boss, who died by suicide at the age of 40, allegedly checked into a motel less than 1.6km from his home in Los Angeles on Tuesday, TMZ reported.

Motel staffers told the outlet that Boss “didn’t appear to be in any sort of distress and wasn’t visibly upset about anything”.

He reportedly only brought one small bag and had booked the room for one night, New York Post reports.

The DJ, who was best known for starring on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, allegedly missed his checkout the following day, leading employees to go to his room – where they found his body in the bathroom.

Boss’ wife, Allison Holker, 34, confirmed his death in a statement received by The Post.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” she said. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

Holker reportedly ran into an LAPD station on Tuesday, saying her husband had left home without his car, which she claimed was unlike him, according to law enforcement sources.

Police later got a call from an LA hotel after Boss had been found.

Boss had been active on social media in the lead-up to his death, regularly posting TikTok dance videos with his wife.

Just four days ago, the So You Think You Can Dance alum uploaded what would be his final Instagram post, wishing his wife a happy anniversary.

“Happy anniversary my love #9years,” he wrote, alongside photos of them on their wedding day.

And two weeks ago, the father-of-three shared a photo of his family enjoying Thanksgiving.

“Thankful for family. Thankful for health. Thankful for love. Thankful for life,” he wrote.

Boss gave an insight into his mental health in an interview on the Aubrey Marcus Podcast in 2017.

“You will make decisions that might seem right at the time but then they’re not. For me, it just helps to know that it keeps going – it does, no matter what – even if something seems very devastating like there’s some kind of force that’s going to keep going and it’s there for you to naturally access,” he said at the time.

Boss added that he would sometimes reflect and ask himself: “Wait a minute, but what was this back here that just happened to me?” and would then “make a choice to stay there” and “jump back into the program” of everyday life.

Ellen DeGeneres led tributes for Boss, who was her sidekick as DJ on her long-running daytime talk show.

“I’m heartbroken,” DeGeneres said in a statement received by The Post. “tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”
