Elizabeth Day on failure, fertility privilege and the way we still sideline ‘women’s issues’

Elizabeth Day likes to celebrate the “things that haven’t gone right”, which might seem ironic given she is an award-winning journalist, bestselling author and the host of the podcast How To Fail, which is nothing if not a success, given it boasts 45 million downloads and counting.

In a thoughtful and expansive conversation, Elizabeth – who is based in the UK – reveals what audiences can expect during her upcoming live shows in Australia and opens up about the kinship she feels with our country. She also discusses the anger – or, as she prefers to think of it, passion – that drove her to coin the term “fertility privilege”, fires up about why she is tired of seeing women’s issues still get minimised by the culture and explains what she learnt when she attempted to live like Gwyneth Paltrow for a week. (Hint: it isn’t cheap, and it requires a lot of free time.)
