Former Collingwood president McGuire and former Magpie Thomas were hanging out together at a bar and a concert at the weekend.
Thomas, who played in the Magpies 2010 premiership before joining Carlton in 2014, retired at the end of 2019.
In a playful Instagram story filmed by Thomas, McGuire said: “Daisy thank you for your services to Carlton.”
The tongue in cheek comment was met with a rye grin from Thomas who then followed that up by planting a kiss on McGuire’s cheek on Sunday. They also shared a limo ride after the game.
McGuire is in the US with wife Carla and their two sons.
Jonathan Brown and Campbell Brown are there and will release the latest episode of Browny’s Podcast on Wednesday.
Dane Swan, Jimmy Bartel and Robert DiPierdomenico were also making the trip, as did former NFL punter and Geelong star Ben Graham who is back in the states for the first time since retiring nine years ago.
Locally, there were big crowds at venues The Sporting Globe, Crown Melbourne and The Osborne in South Yarra.
Super Bowl 56 was expected to have more than 100 million Americans tuning in.
