Double Bay eyebrow queens’ eye-watering million-dollar makeovers

Business must be booming for in-demand brow sculptors, with Double Bay eyebrow queens Kirstin Fisher and Amy Jean injecting hundreds of thousands of dollars into salon renos. PLUS: What is Sydney’s favourite heiress up to?

Peel off makeup: A beauty revolution?

Two of the country’s top eyebrow artists are going head-to-head in the renovation stakes, with lavish and eye-wateringly expensive salon makeovers.

While many businesses are struggling because of the ongoing challenges of the global coronavirus pandemic, Sydney’s eyebrow artistry industry is clearly booming, judging by the money Kirstin Fisher and Amy Jean are injecting into their salons.

Just months after Kristin Fisher spent a rumoured $700,000 to $1 million on her lush Double Bay salon, rival Amy Jean has thrown hundreds of thousands of dollars into a new Transvaal Ave salon in the same suburb.

Belle Magazine’s Lucy Montgomery is looking after the interiors for Amy Jean East, which will include designer pieces from Louis Vuitton and Blainey North Collection.

It’s clear neither lady has been affected by the pandemic, despite it costing up to $1800 for an eyebrow tattooing session with Fisher.

And despite having to put their businesses into 11 weeks of lockdown because of the NSW government’s stage three restrictions, both women were quickly back in demand, receiving more than 200 bookings each within minutes of sanctions being relaxed.

“Oddly, this has been one of my most productive years here in Australia,” Amy Jean said.

“When the COVID closures impacted our salons, I knew I had to act quickly, rather than sit back and fear the uncertainties. In a matter of 24 hours, I had boxed up a prototype DIY brow kit and we launched them online 48 hours later.

“Our online sales boomed, then after 11 weeks closed, the salon booking system went into overdrive the day the government announced we could re-open and we were hit with hundreds and hundreds of bookings from clients.”

Jean, whose celebrity clientele includes Dannii Minogue, Sonia Kruger, Delta Goodrem and Naomi Campbell, opened her doors 16 years ago and now has six salons across Australia.

“I still think it’s in its infancy as there’s so much more I want to achieve,” she said.

“I am incredibly proud of the brand’s development which is driven by my remarkable team backing me.”

NEW LOOK FOR RADIANT HEIRESS

Heiress Francesca Packer Barham has been keeping a low profile of late, but neighbours in the Horizon building at Darlinghurst, where she lives in the penthouse, are reporting she is looking a little different.

The granddaughter of Kerry and Ros Packer — known for her voluptuous curves — has become the talk of the eastern suburbs after befriending the son of a well-known plastic surgeon.

The surgeon, Michael Zacharia, is known for his facelifts in particular and is favoured by Sydney types including a plethora of reality TV contestants such as The Bachelor’s Keira Maguire and Big Brother’s Skye Wheatley.

Now comes talk Francesca, or “Chessie” as she’s known, may have recently consulted the surgeon, too.

Sources last week suggested “Chessie” had expressed an interest in rhinoplasty and a boob job.

The daughter of philanthropist Gretel Packer and her first husband, British financier Nick Barham, “Chessie” has long been regarded as one of the great natural beauties of Sydney.

She is, of course, the daughter of a famously natural woman, one who shunned the work of plastic surgeons.

But with 300,000 followers of her Instagram account, it is possible “Chessie” has felt greater pressure to conform to Hollywood standards of perfection.

On Saturday she posted #flashback photo showing her looking radiant at her 25th birthday party, which took place in December.

The post comes amid rumours she recently split from Zacharia’s son Sam.
