She may not look like your average American country singer, but Tanner Adell is a true country girl at heart.
At 28, her glamorous outfits often lead people to mistake her for a pop or hip-hop artist, but she has struck a perfect balance between the two worlds.
‘I just try to be myself. I grew up on country music but I also grew up in Los Angeles where it was fashion, modelling and acting … so I’ve just found a happy medium between the two and just blend them,” Adell told Confidential.
“It just wouldn’t be fully me if I was only honouring the pop side of me or just the country side of me.”
Singing since the day she could talk, Adell worked with mega pop-star Beyonce earlier this year as the superstar stepped into the country music genre.
“It’s an interesting thing when you get so close to someone that you’ve looked up to for so long.
“To be included on Cowboy Carter (Beyonce’s country album) is such an honour,” Adell said.
“When she announced it, I was like, I have to shoot my shot, so I did and it’s been amazing.
“It’s been a journey, but it’s been one of the greatest stepping stones of my career.”
Saddling up for her first-ever Australian visit, Adell will play upcoming Ridin’ Hearts Festival at Sydney Showground on Saturday.
“Sydney is maybe one of my favourite cities I’ve ever been to, I’m loving the weather.
“I’ve just really wanted to include the rest of the world in country music culture, which is why I’m so excited to be in Australia, and wanting to take country music in a direction that feels like anybody from anywhere in the world can listen to it.”
