ON a scale of whether Offspring fans will need tissues, chocolate or both for the show’s hotly-anticipated TV return, its executive producer Imogen Banks has warned: “bring everything, bring it all.”

With confirmation the cast and crew sat down for a special screening of the first episode last week, Banks said the show’s unexpected revival had re-energised all involved.

“From the first read through, just to hear all those voices again was wonderful. When we did actually all get together,” she said, “it turned out to be incredibly fun.”

The production begins filming on episodes five and six from tomorrow, with leading ladies Asher Keddie and Kat Stewart taking their roles and new motherhood in their stride.

Banks has encouraged both women to bring their babies to work, with Stewart spotted last week introducing co-star Eddie Perfect to her newborn daughter, Georgia.

Channel 10, which is yet to confirm an air date for the beloved series, hinted the TV family at the centre of the storyline faced an emotional upheaval early on, teasing: “the Proudmans are rocked by an unexpected event which will test them as never before.”

Meanwhile, Banks revealed the show’s music supervisor and super fan Jessica Moore is often the first crash test viewer to see early cuts of the show; and Banks’ best measure of whether producers have hit the right note.

“She’s incredibly, hilariously reactive and you get a really strong gauge of how we’re going, depending on how she reacts,” Banks said.

And her verdict? “It was exactly as we’d want.”
