The Queen died with only two family members by her side

After the Queen was given just hours to live, the royal family rushed from the far corners of the Kingdom to her bedside. Only two made it on time.

The Queen’s eldest children, King Charles and Princess Anne, were reportedly the only two family members that arrived at her bedside before she died.

The Royal siblings were already in Scotland when the Queen’s doctors said they were “concerned for Her Majesty’s health” and recommended she remain under medical supervision.

The Buckingham Palace statement was released at 12.32pm local time. Princess Anne, already at Balmoral for official duties in Scotland, is understood to have been the first by her side, followed by King Charles.

They were the only two who made it to Balmoral while the Queen was “resting comfortably” before she passed away, according to sources quoted by Mail Online.

Despite the mad dash to make it by her side, none of her other children or grandchildren arrived in time.

Prince Harry didn’t arrive until about an hour-and-a-half after the Queen’s death was made public at 6.30pm local time.

Prince William drove Prince Andrew and Prince Edward from the airport after arriving on a private jet from Berkshire, but they didn’t arrive at the castle until shortly after 5pm local time.

Prime Minister Liz Truss’s spokesman said she was officially informed of the Queen’s death at 4.30pm local time, suggesting they missed by mere minutes.

Before his address to the nation, King Charles was heard on a hot mic recalling the loss of his mother to Ms Truss during their audience at Buckingham Palace.

“The moment I’ve been dreading, as I know a lot of people have,” Charles was heard saying to the prime minister as they met in the palace’s audience room.

“It has been so touching this afternoon when we arrived, all those people who had come to give their condolences … and flowers,” he added.
