Meghan Markle’s one-time best friend Jessica Mulroney has posted an ambiguous message about “los(ing) friends” after the pair reportedly fell out.

The stylist, 41, posted a quote on Sunday that fans speculated could have been directed toward Markle, 39, one year after cracks first started to show in their friendship.

“Life changes,” the quote read on Mulroney’s Instagram story.

“You lose love. You lose friends.

“You lose pieces of yourself that you never imagined would be gone. And then, without even realising it, those pieces come back. New love enters. Better friends come along. And a stronger, wiser you, is staring back in the mirror.”

Mulroney’s relationship with Markle, who is bi-racial, became strained after she was accused of making a “tone-deaf” remark about “white privilege” in June 2020.

Lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter publicly blasted Mulroney in an emotional 12-minute Instagram video, describing how she had threatened her during an argument about “speaking up” against racism and had left her feeling “paralysed in fear”.

Meghan reportedly reacted with shock after hearing of her friend’s threats to sue Exeter.

Mulroney commented on the video to apologise, and alluded to her friendship with Meghan, who has been at the centre of racist attacks since she began dating Prince Harry in 2016.

“I am unequivocally sorry for not doing that with you and for any hurt I’ve caused. As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and centre,” she wrote.

“It was deeply educational. I learned a lot from that. I promise to continue to learn and listen on how I can use my privilege to elevate and support black voices.”

However, Exeter then shared a screenshot on her Instagram story of a private message sent by Mulroney shortly after her public apology, which appeared to confirm her intent to sue for “liable” (sic).

Mulroney was subsequently dropped from featuring as an expert on daytime lifestyle show CityLine.

Following the scandal, reports suggested Meghan had cut ties with Mulroney – which she denied.

“I’m going to tell this once and for all. Meghan and I are family. She is the kindest friend and has checked up on me everyday,” Mulroney wrote on her Instagram Story at the time.

“Tabloid culture is atrocious. It creates lies and hurtful storyline. Stop feeding into it. Done.”

While it remains unclear whether the women have since patched up their relationship, Meghan appeared to have sent Mulroney flowers for her birthday in March, The NY Post reports.

The former “I Do, Redo” host later publicly defended the former senior royal from palace staffers’ bullying allegations.

Meanwhile, Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry has temporarily returned to the UK where he is scheduled to reunite with his brother Prince William on Thursday for a memorial to their mother, Princess Diana, who was killed in an accident in Paris in 1997.

William and Harry have been distant since last year – when Harry and Meghan left the royal family, moving first to Canada and then to Los Angeles – despite rumours that they had reconciled at the funeral of their grandfather in April.

Although family and friends had hoped the funeral of Prince Philip would bring the brothers together, William seemed uncompromising, calling Meghan “that bloody woman” in a conversation with friends, according to the New York Post’s Page Six.

“But look at the way that bloody woman treated my staff — merciless,” Prince William said, according to a royal source cited by the newspaper.

Relations between the brothers They reportedly worsened after Harry participated in a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.

“There they were, at each other’s throats as fiercely as ever,” said a friend of the brothers, describing their meeting. “The rage and anger between those two has grown so incredibly deep. Too many harsh and wounding things have been said.”

ROYAL EXPERTS WEIGH IN ON KATE VS. MEGHAN

Princess Diana would have been “thrilled” Prince William has found his “perfect match” in Kate Middleton – but she would have found Meghan Markle “difficult”, a royal expert has claimed.

Katie Nicholl – author of the biography Harry And Meghan – told The Sun that the late royal would have had conflicting feelings towards her daughters-in-law.

The royal expert claimed Princess Diana would have approved of Kate Middleton.

Nicholl said: “She would have been thrilled that William found the perfect match in Kate but it’s hard to know what she would have made of Meghan.

“She would have loved the fact that Harry married a bi-racial, divorced Hollywood actor. This was Harry shaking things up, whether that was or wasn’t what he set out to do.”

However, the expert said Diana would have “had reservations” about Megxit and “the bombs” Harry and Meghan have dropped on the Royal Family.

She continued: “Diana dropped [a royal bomb] on Charles by suggesting he wouldn’t have been a suitable king, but she would never have dared to criticise the Queen.

“Harry and Meghan haven’t been as clever as she was.”

What’s more, royal expert Ingrid Seward – editor of Majesty magazine – claimed Diana would have potentially clashed with Meghan Markle.

The expert said: “I think she would love Kate because she could see she was exactly what William needed – someone strong but who wouldn’t overpower him.

“But I think she would find Meghan difficult because she is such a strong character and so was Diana.

“So I could see clashes there. I don’t see Meghan standing back and taking advice from Diana.”

On 1 July, Prince William and Prince Harry will reunite for the first since Prince Philip’s funeral to unveil a new statue of their mother to commemorate what would have been her 60th birthday.
