Rebel Wilson has dazzled on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie.
The Australian actress, 42, attended a special screening for Netflix’s Senior Year, in which she stars alongside fellow Aussie Angourie Rice, as well as Alicia Silverstone and Justin Hartley.
Wilson looked stunning in an off-the-shoulder emerald green gown for the event, which was held at The London West Hollywood.
The high school comedy marks Wilson’s first feature film role since she shed an impressive 40kg, after dubbing 2020 – the year she turned 40 – her ‘year of health’.
The last time she graced the big screen was in the star-studded 2019 live action film Cats, which was panned both critically and commercially.
Wilson has opened up about how she began the journey to ditch her unhealthy eating habits and develop a fitness routine around the time she started filming Cats.
The star wrote on Instagram in early 2020: “OK so for me 2020 is going to be called ‘The Year of Health’.
“So I put on the athleisure and went out for a walk, deliberately hydrating on the couch right now and trying to avoid the sugar and junk food, which is going to be hard after the holidays I’ve just had but I’m going to do it! Who’s with me in making some positive changes this year?”
In the months afterwards, the physical changes to Wilson’s body started to show, along with her growing confidence.
Wilson started to get people talking with gorgeous Instagram posts showing her slimmed down figure.
There were however major pressures on Wilson’s career, after she shot to fame in her role as ‘Fat Amy’ in 2012’s Pitch Perfect.
In a June 2020 interview with The Sun, she revealed she was paid to stay a larger size by film bosses.
“It’s not like I want to lose weight and get to around a certain number. It’s more than that, it’s about dealing mentally with why I was overeating and I had a job where I was paid a lot of money to be bigger, at times which kind of can mess with your head a bit,” Wilson said.
“So now I’m just trying to work on the mental side and the physical job and doing a lot of personal training and, and on the nutrition side like it’s cool, I should probably write a book at some point about it because people seem to be interested.”
