There was no Prince Harry and Meghan Markle but the royal box at the Queen’s Party at the Palace had two unexpected guests.

Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 7, joined their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in the official seating section of the star-studded concert outside Buckingham Palace, held in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.

The family sat together in the front row of the royal box, which featured other key guests – including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson – behind them.

Kate wore an off-white power blazer by Self-Portrait for the occasion, worn over a pleated dress and teamed with statement earrings, a cross pendant necklace and heels, while Princess Charlotte sported a red dress and waved a small flag with the Union Jack on it.

She later wore a red cape-like jacket over her shoulders, while Prince William and Prince George both wore suits and ties. Also present were Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, and Princess Anne.

In a candid moment, Kate was seen smiling and sharing a joke with her cousin-in-law, Zara Tindall, who had playfully poked Prince George in the ear with a flag.

While she looked slightly unimpressed during the performances, Princess Charlotte, 7, clearly saw the funny side of the prank and giggled as they watched his reaction, The Sun reported.

Zara is very close to the Cambridge family, and is Prince George’s godmother.

While the Queen was not in attendance at the Party at the Palace event due to health concerns, the event was opened by Queen – the band – and Adam Lambert, with the song We Will Rock You.

The concert also featured performances by Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Duran Duran, Craig David, and Andrea Bocelli, and a prerecorded song by Sir Elton John.

The Queen pulled out of attending in person with “great reluctance”, instead watching the televised event from Windsor Castle.
