Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix show and his memoir may affect Archie and Lilibet’s titles

Harry and Meghan ‘furious’ Archie and Lilibet won’t have HRH titles

King Charles III could stop Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children from being given prince and princess titles.

The future titles for their son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 1, could be removed if Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix documentary series and Prince Harry’s memoir are too controversial.

A source close to the King told Vanity Fair: “It depends a lot on what happens in the coming months, particularly with Harry’s book and their TV show.”

Prince Harry’s new memoir has been delayed until next year after it was due to be published in November after the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

It is now expected to be published in the new year, and it has been suggested the Queen’s death may prompt Prince Harry to make edits to the manuscript.

The book, which is said to be “explosive”, is being published by Penguin Random House.

The tell-all book has sparked tension within The Firm after palace officials were apparently “blindsided” by it.

The publisher described the book as “a heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time”.

Its website states: “Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses and life lessons that have helped shape him.

“Covering his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the front lines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father, Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait, one that shows readers that behind everything they think they know lies an inspiring, courageous, and uplifting human story.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have also been filming a TV show for Netflix, and are due to produce a historical documentary for the platform that will tell their “love story”.

The California-based pair were said to be furious that their children would not be given HRH titles, even though they were still set to be called prince and princess.

A spokesman for King Charles said the document outlining the line of succession would be updated “as and when we get information”.
