Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want ‘special family moment’ at King Charles’ coronation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s key desire for the King’s coronation has left royal watchers unimpressed.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle apparently want to be part of a “special family moment” for the King’s coronation.

The Sussexes have been invited to the historic event on May 6, which falls on the same day as their son Prince Archie’s fourth birthday.

However, it’s not clear what role the LA-based royals will play, with some suggesting they want to make an appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

“As you can imagine, royal watchers are none too thrilled about this,” royal commentator Kinsey Schofield told The Sun.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not appear on the balcony during the Platinum Jubilee so it’s interesting that they would want to appear on the balcony for King Charles’ Coronation.”

Although the couple have not yet confirmed whether they will attend, speculation is rife that they are hoping to be at the celebrations, and would like Prince Archie’s birthday to be recognised in some way during the day.

“There is no chance they're going to be on the balcony – the Queen wanted a slimmed-down monarchy. Charles is further enforcing that,” royal expert Angela Mollard told the Express.

“He has dealt beautifully with Andrew and they need to turn around and say there‘s no chance they’ll get a place on that balcony.”

PRINCE ANDREW TOYS WITH EXPLOSIVE TELL-ALL BOOK

Prince Andrew wants to write an explosive, tell-all royal autobiography to try to repair his tattered reputation.

The disgraced Duke of York, 63, had told friends he wants to change the public’s perception of him more than three years after his disastrous Jeffrey Epstein Newsnight interview.

But the prince, also facing losing his home and funding in a shake-up of royal finances, is annoyed that friends have warned him off the idea.

Sources have described his proposed book as Spare 2.0 as it comes after Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir rocked the Royal Family.

But one insider said: “Everyone close to him is telling him it’s a stupid idea and he should just forget it.”

According to The Sun, two leading publishers are said to be interested in an autobiography by Prince Andrew, no matter its title.

Andrew, who has been eyeing the commercial success of his nephew’s book, is rumoured to be in discussions with US biographer and interviewer Daphne Barak.

But she is currently busy working on a separate book with a famous showbiz family.

It is believed that any memoir by the Queen’s favourite son would be a global bestseller.

He is desperate for future funds after telling friends he has received no inheritance from the Queen when she died.

And King Charles’ plans to slash royal funding could soon see him “evicted” from his Windsor home unless he can fork out for expensive maintenance of the Royal Lodge.

A source said: “Andrew was the original spare and there’s plenty of material.

“Compared to Harry, he has a far greater depth of history to draw from.

“Writing a book would give him the opportunity to fully explain his association with Jeffrey Epstein and the resulting fallout.

“But it would also be a fascinating insight into the inner workings of the royals and their relationships.”

“But mainly he wants to set the record straight. If he doesn’t change the narrative, no one else will.”

PRINCE ARCHIE’S NAME REAPPEARS ON PALACE WEBSITE

The profile of Prince Archie temporarily vanished from the Buckingham Palace website just weeks after it was updated to reflect his royal title.

The page of the three-year-old son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle showed as an error message on the official site, the Mail Online reports.

However, Prince Archie‘s profile did reappear later with the photo on the page slightly different from the original photo used, with Meghan Markle smiling as she looks at her newborn son, taken when the couple announced him to the world in 2019.

Originally, the photo used pictured Ms Markle smiling at Prince Harry, in a shot taken on the same occasion.

The royal line of succession page, which was previously updated to reflect Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s positions as sixth and seventh in line to the throne, is still a live page and the children remain in the correct place.

The list on the website is topped by Prince William at number one and ends with Lucas Tindall, the two-year-old son of Zara and Mike Tindall, at number 23.

The error messages on Prince Archie’s page came just weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children were officially named as prince and princess.

Archie and his sister Lilibet were named as the Prince and Princess of Sussex on Buckingham Palace’s line of succession page the day after Prince Harry and Ms Markle announced their daughter had been christened and was using the title princess.

Previously the children were listed as Master Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.

Archie and Lilibet were not prince and princess at birth, because they were not grandchildren of the monarch.

However, they gained the right to their titles when King Charles acceded to the throne.

A spokesman for Prince Harry and Ms Markle at the time said: “The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became monarch.

“This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”

Ms Markle caused an uproar in 2021 when she discussed Archie’s royal title in her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Ms Markle famously inferred the decision not to give her son a royal title at birth was linked to his race.

“The first member of colour in this family (was) not being titled in the same way that other grandchildren would be,” Ms Markle told Winfrey.

“It’s not their right to take away,” she insisted.

“Do you think it’s because of his race?” Winfrey asked.

Ms Markle replied: “In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, so we (had) the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title.

“And, also, concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born,” she said.

At the time of the interview, Ms Markle was publicly corrected by royal historians who cited protocols established by King George V in 1917, which stated that only the children and grandchildren of a sovereign have an automatic right to the title HRH and prince or princess.
