Prince Andrew is hitting “rock bottom” after his rejection from royal service, according to a royal expert.

Over the weekend, reports surfaced of a tense face-to-face meeting between the Duke of York and his brother, King Charles.

The disgraced Prince was “blindsided” and “tearful” after he was told he would never return to royal duties.

During Sunday’s episode of Paul Murray Live, available to stream on Flash, The Daily Mirror’s Royal Editor Russell Myers weighed in on Andrew’s predicament.

The journalist claims “the only person” who believed the Duke “had a chance of coming back to royal life” was “Prince Andrew himself”.

“He absolutely left himself in complete disgrace due to his relationship with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstien and his longtime friend Ghislaine Maxwell,” Mr Myers said on the program.

“There was really no way back for him and yet he still thought that he had something to offer the royal family.

“It’s not of any surprise to anyone but the Duke of York himself that he’s been definitely sidelined…I definitely see no way back for Andrew at all.”

Mr Myers added that “there’s no love lost” between the once close siblings Charles and Andrew.

“They were once fairly close but Charles has seen what he has done to his own reputation,” Mr Myers said.

“He’s done huge collateral damage to the reputation of the monarchy.

“He really is at rock bottom at the moment.”

Andrew was stripped of all his patronages and military titles after becoming embroiled in a civil lawsuit brought by Epstein sex trafficking victim Virginia Giuffre, who accused the Duke of sexually abusing her when she was 17.

The Prince was forced to settle the case with a huge payout speculated to be as much as $A26.5 million.

Andrew, who is eighth in line to the throne, was forced to step back from royal duties in late 2019, after a disastrous television interview in which he tried to defend his links to Epstein.

Public outrage at the time saw several charities and associations distance themselves from him, and he has vehemently denied Giuffre’s allegations.
