MILEY Cyrus’ little sister might only be 15, but she’s already following in her sister’s provocative footsteps.
The teen has posed as a dead body in a new ad for PETA to protest against the dissection of animals in classrooms.
The graphic photo shows Cyrus as the carcass of an animal with her chest peeled back to reveal her inner organs, bearing similarity to the carcass of an animal used in science examinations.
The caption on the ad reads, “I Am Not a Classroom Experiment. Neither Are Cats, Frogs, Rats, Pigs, or Other Animals Killed for Dissection. #DissectionKills.”
Noah laid down on an examination table and had makeup artists give her the appearance of a dead person.
The youngster said in a statement: “Because I love all animals so much, people should realise they don’t have to cut into something to learn about it. You should ask your teacher for other humane alternatives ... You’ll learn so much more off of the computer. If you have the other option, why not take it?
“It kind of was weird being on the table, and the feeling of being about to be cut open. The thought of that happening to an animal would be terrible.”
According to PETA, more than 10 million animals are dissected in secondary schools and college science classes every year.
“Most of them come from biological supply houses that sell cats obtained from animal shelters, foetal piglets cut from the wombs of pigs killed in slaughterhouses, and frogs who are taken from the wild — a practice that wreaks havoc on local ecosystems,” the animal rights organisation says. “Studies have repeatedly shown that virtual dissection is more effective in teaching biology than cutting up dead animals.”
