The relationship between Meghan Markle and the Princess of Wales was reportedly doomed from the start, with tensions rising early on over the then-Duchess of Cambridge’s wardrobe.
It has been reported that the Duchess of Sussex became enraged when Catherine was given priority over Ms Markle by British designer Erdem Moralıoglu.
During her career as an actress, Meghan Markle was a major fan of the Erdem label, wearing the designer’s creations to several engagements.
The brand is marketed as “an intriguing interplay of strength and beauty”.
But when Ms Markle became involved with Prince Harry, the Princess of Wales is said to have been given priority as she was also an existing customer, The Telegraph reports.
The fact that outfits were being handed to Catherine first is said to have gone down badly with the Sussexes, with Ms Markle allegedly saying Catherine “wasn’t even Queen”.
Ms Markle wore Erdem’s ‘Davina’ dress from his 2015 collection in early 2016 before she had even met the Duke of Sussex.
She was also seen in Erdem dresses in March 2017 during a wedding in Jamaica, and around the time of the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto.
But as a royal, Ms Markle did not publicly wear her favourite designer until March 2019, The Telegraph reports.
The latest fashion saga between the pair comes after a previous alleged row over bridesmaid dresses for the Sussexes’ wedding an awkward first meeting, which was detailed in Prince Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare.
