Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘demoted’ to bottom of Royal Family’s website

It’s been a particularly tense few weeks between the Royal Family and the Sussexes – and this latest move probably won’t help the situation.

'Blatant humiliation': Royal family's epic Harry mistake exposed

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been “demoted” to the bottom of the Royal Family’s website alongside Prince Andrew and minor royals.

The pair are said to have previously sat about halfway down the official website, below senior royals and above minor members of the family, reports The Sun.

However, the page has since been updated following the death of the Queen – and the Sussexes now sit below royals like Princess Alexandra and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

And non-working royals like Prince Michael of Kent and his wife Marie-Christine have been removed from the page entirely, The Telegraph reports.

The shift comes after King Charles is said to be planning to create a “slimmed down” monarchy during his reign, saying the public does not want to be paying for an ever-expanding Royal Family.

Meanwhile, Princess Alexandra, the Duke of Kent and the Duke of Gloucester, the Queen’s cousins, all remain on the page as they are still working members.

Meghan and Harry were moved to halfway down the page around 15 months ago.

They had previously sat underneath the Prince and Princess of Wales but were shifted below the Wessexes and Princess Royal following ‘Megxit’.

The “demotion” comes as the Sussexes still wait for the titles of their children Archie and Lilibet.

The King is said it still be deciding on the title of the children, who, under his accession, are now qualified for the titles Prince and Princess.

Under protocols established by King George V in 1917, the Queen’s grandfather, the children and grandchildren of a sovereign have the automatic right to the title HRH and prince or princess.

But while the Palace has updated its website to move Archie and Lilibet to sixth and seventh in line respectively, their titles remain Master and Miss.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “Updating love on a website doesn’t quite work.

“We will be working through updating the website as and when we get information.”

According to Roya Nikkhah, royal editor for The Sunday Times, the delay is “heightening tensions” between the King and the Sussexes.

It comes as Meghan and Harry are understood to have returned to California the day after the Queen’s funeral, without resolving their differences with King Charles and Prince William.

The brothers stood side-by-side in support of their father as he mourned his mother, and there was also a joint engagement with Meghan and Kate visiting Windsor.

But, the future of the family’s relationship remains unknown at this stage – especially with talks of Harry’s memoir being released next year.
