Prince Harry has accused the Palace of “lying to protect my brother” and claimed he and Meghan Markle were the victims of “institutional gaslighting” in his most explosive attack on the royal family yet.
“They were happy to lie to protect my brother, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us,” he says in a new trailer for the second instalment of their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan.
It is not clear from the trailer whom Prince Harry is referring to but it’s believed it’s a reference to the Palace.
Controversially, the trailer uses footage of Prince Harry, Prince William and Peter Philips at Prince Philip’s funeral as the Duke of Sussex makes his allegations.
The Duchess of Sussex sensationally claims in the new Netflix trailer that she was “being fed to the wolves” before she left the UK with her husband.
Markle says “our security was being pulled” and “everyone knew where we were”.
Prince Harry is seen in a selfie video on board their flight to the US, saying: “We are on the freedom flight”.
It is widely expected that the second tranche of the documentary will be more scathing of the royal family, British institutions and the couple’s decision to quit the UK.
The final three episodes of the tell-all series will begin streaming on Netflix on December 15.
In the new trailer, Prince Harry says: “I wonder what would have happened to us if we had not got out when we did?”
Markle says: “Our security was being pulled. Everyone in the world knew where we were.”
The Duchess adds: “I wasn’t being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves.”
The one-minute trailer, which also features photographs and video footage of the couple at home in California and of their daughter Lilibet for the first time, ends with the Duke saying: “I’ve always felt as though this was a fight worth fighting for.”
The first three episodes of the documentary addressed the couple’s fractious relationship with the press, with Markle accusing the media of wanting to “destroy” her.
There was significant backlash to the show in some circles, with one MP calling for the couple to lose their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles.
The royal family have remained tight-lipped and is yet to comment on the show officially.
A disclaimer at the start of the show said that Buckingham Palace declined to comment but last Thursday, when the first episodes were released, the palace said they had not been offered a comment.
SUSSEXES SHARE INTIMATE MOMENTS
The new Netflix trailer reveals more private images of the Sussexes along with previously unseen footage of their children, Archie and Lilibet.
In a never-before-seen image, toddler Lilibet takes wobbly steps around the garden as her doting mother holds the child’s tiny hands.
In one heartwarming shot, Prince Harry plays backyard soccer with his mother-in-law Doria Ragland while toddler Archie sits on his shoulders.
In another, which appears to have been taken during the Sussexes’ most recent visit to the UK, the family of four walk up the driveway towards Frogmore Cottage.
Markle beams up at her daughter Lilibet, who is being carried on Prince Harry’s shoulders.
Fashion spotters have noted that a barefoot Markle, who is carrying her son Archie, is wearing a stunning $9000 Oscar de la Renta dress in the image.
Other private images show the royal exiles at home in their California.
Markle is seen blowing up balloons for an upcoming family party in one shot while another clip shows her visiting the Big Sur beach.
SNAPS REVEAL GLAM WEDDING GUESTS
Footage from the previous Harry & Meghan Netflix teaser released on Sunday has revealed more about the glamorous wedding guests who partied at the lavish reception.
British-Bahraini fashion designer Misha Nonoo, who is rumoured to have played matchmaker to the Sussexes in the early days of their romance, can be seen partying with her now husband, oil tycoon Mikey Heiss.
In another shot, Canadian actress Sabrina Dhowre Elba, the wife of actor Idris Elba, can been seen on the dancefloor.
The British heart-throb played DJ for the night as the royals partied at the Frogmore House reception.
Actress Janina Gavankar, who can be seen with her mouth open with joy in one image, was also there as was California-based investor Darren Litt, the husband of Markle’s bestie, Benita.
