AUSTRALIAN fashion designer Dan Single has spoken out about the dreadful fall he suffered from a Parisian hotel room a month ago, thanking his family and saying he was grateful to be given a second chance.

Ksubi founder Mr Single, 36, shattered his legs and feet after his fall from a balcony at the Hotel Grand Armour on March 12, and has been recuperating in hospital ever since.

His wife, model Bambi Northwood Blyth, has been caring for him in Paris and taking on modelling jobs to help pay the spiralling hospital bills.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help fund his treatment, and need to raise $300,000.

“Yes! Everything you have heard is true,’’ Mr Single wrote on the page.

“I fell 3 floors (35 metres) out of my hotel room in Paris, did a (somersault) and landed on my feet (a miracle) saved my spine and my brain.

“I did however shatter every bone from my feet to my hips and pelvis.’’

Mr Single wrote that he had been in a coma for two weeks, had undergone eight operations and was “covered in pins and bolts in my bones”.

“I cannot use my legs for another month or two so will be in a rehab centre in Paris recovering,’’ he wrote.

“It all sounds awful but the guy writing this mail has been given a second lease at life and is SO grateful, inspired and excited to be back soon.

“I am also lucky to have my family here by side, wife, mother, brother and at least a visitor a day.

“Overwhelmed at the messages of love and support.’’

In his upbeat post, Mr Single said everyone he spoke to wanted to help in some way and that it had been suggested he establish a GoFundMe page to connect to his friends around the world.

“Can’t wait to see you all soon,’’ he said.

In an update yesterday, he wrote that he was in “Paris, bed, bored, sore.’’

Ms Northwood Blyth has been by Ms Single’s side since the accident, leaving only to undertake modelling jobs, and has posted several photographs from Paris as the weeks have gone by.

Six weeks ago she posted a photograph on Instagram of the pair together in a swimming pool, telling her husband: “Dan keep on being the amazing fighter you are, you got this. We got this xxx.’’
