Model Justin Lacko addressed his sexuality in a series of Instagram story updates last night before quickly deleting them.
The posts were noticed by KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O who this morning read out what the posts said.
Jackie O announced on air: “He said: ‘I won’t lie anymore with myself. I want freedom, and to be free. I respect myself to say this. I love me and I always will. Gay, bi, straight, just be who you are. I don’t care, and neither should anyone else. Love who you want to, doesn’t matter the sex. Just letting everyone know this isn’t me coming out about being gay, this is me coming out today that I fall in love with a person, not a sex. I love women and I love men. That’s it.’”
Lacko is currently expecting a baby with his ex, Anita Barone-Scott. The model announced the news on Instagram last year, writing: “LIFE!!!! I can’t believe this is happening but it’s the best news to hear and I am very excited to share with you all that I’m going to be a daddy. Here’s to celebrating my last year of my 20s and becoming a daddy in 2020.”
Lacko has previously appeared on Love Island and I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! On the latter show, he was involved in a verbal stoush with Richard Reid after the gossip guru raised the topic of Lacko’s sexuality.
In the jungle, Lacko told Angie Kent and Reid that he no longer spoke to his grandmother after she told his mum that he was “in the closet”.
“My nana was telling my mum who I was,” Lacko said. “It’s like, that’s my mum and my mum didn’t even stick up for me … (I thought) why didn’t you not stick up for me, do you think that?”
The conversation took a turn for the worse when Reid decided to add his two cents and bluntly replied: “If you don’t mind my saying, a lot of people do think you’re gay.”
“Great, yeah,” Lacko replied sarcastically while shooting daggers at Reid.
“So what’s wrong, you feel like your grandmother should have asked you directly if you were gay?” Reid asked.
“I absolutely feel like that she should have,” an agitated Lacko hit back.
But Reid continued to defend Lacko’s grandmother, arguing that “maybe she didn’t know how to talk about it”.
“She’s from another generation,” Reid said, ignoring Lacko’s protests. “So unless she’s done something else to wrong you I think that for her to ask the question, hang on, that other people have asked heaps of times. I really don’t see what the problem is unless you feel it was mean-spirited.”
“I just feel that, like for me personally, the way that I’ve been brought up, someone’s sexuality is none of your business, I don’t think it’s anyone’s business unless I choose to say it myself,” Lacko replied.
“Anyways I think I don’t want to talk about this anymore, because obviously I don’t think we are going to see eye-to-eye.”
