Harry reveals the moment Prince William was ‘furious’ at King Charles

Harry has detailed one major incident that led to a “furious” William confronting their father King Charles.

Prince William clashed with his father over stories he claimed a “true believer” in the future King’s communications team had leaked about him.

According to Prince Harry, his brother was “justifiably incandescent” about the woman, who he said had been “peddling unflattering stories, fake stories, about the Heir and the Spare to all the papers”.

The dispute blew up when the brothers confronted Charles in his office at Clarence House, with William asking: “How can you be letting a stranger do this to your sons?”

Charles began shouting that his sons were “paranoid”, according to Harry, and argued that “just because we were getting bad press and he was getting good, that didn’t mean his staff were behind it”.

The brothers then told their father that they “had proof”.

“Reporters, inside actual newsrooms, assuring us that this woman was selling us out,” Harry wrote.

He said his father “refused to listen” and gave a “churlish, pathetic” response: “Granny has her person, why can’t I have mine?”

Harry claimed Charles was referring to Angela, the Queen’s dresser who was “also said to be skilled at planting stories”.

He said he suspected the communications operative in his father’s office had also been “the lone source” for stories about a hunting trip he took in Germany in 2017 that made him out to be “some fat-bottomed seventeenth-century baron who craved blood and trophies”.

The dispute over the future King’s staffer flared again in 2019, when William called his brother and was “seething”.

“He was talking way too fast, and was way too upset,” Harry wrote, saying that William believed the woman had planted another story about him and his wife Catherine and their children.

William confronted Charles and Camilla again, telling Harry: “They’ve done this to me for the last time.“

The Duke of Sussex said he tried to use the moment to bond with his brother over how the press had been treating his wife Meghan.

But he said William then “snapped” and “shifted all his rage onto me”.

Meghan overheard part of her brother-in-law’s rant and was left in tears, Harry said.

HALF-NAKED HEADSTANDS,CAMILLA AFFAIR: HARRY ‘DREADED’ HIS DAD

The King would perform daily headstands in his boxer shorts to combat pain in his neck and back from years of playing polo, the Duke of Sussex has revealed.

In his frank memoir Spare, read by News Corp a day ahead of its official publication, Prince Harry revealed he would dread knocking on Charles’s bedroom door for fear of what he would find on the other side.

“Balmoral had 50 bedrooms, one of which had been divided for me and Willy. Adults called at the nursery. Open the room door and you might find one of Pa’s valet’s helping him dress. “Worse, you might blunder in as he was doing his headstands prescribed by the physio.

“These exercises were the only effective remedy for the constant pain in Pa’s neck and back. Old polo injuries mostly.

“He’d perform them daily in just a pair of boxers propped against the door, or hanging from a bar like a skilled acrobat.

“If you set one little finger on the knob you hear him bark from the other side ‘no, no don’t open, please, don’t come in’”.

The Duke has detailed in his book how he longed for his father’s attention as a child and still adores him but his relationship with Camilla, his mistress at the time, robbed the young princes of his time.

Writing that his father was not cut out to be a single parent, he says,“My mother legendarily said there were three people in her marriage. But her maths was off - she left William and me out of the equation.

“We didn’t understand what was going on with her (Camilla) and Pa but we were intuitive enough to sense the presence of the Other Woman, because we suffered the downstream effects.

“Willy long harboured suspicions about the other woman, which confused him, tormented him, and when his suspicions were confirmed, he felt tremendous guilt having done nothing, or said nothing sooner.

“I was too young, I think, to have suspicions. But I couldn’t help but feel the lack of stability and lack of warmth and love in our home.

“Now, with mummy missing, the maths swung in his favour. He was free to see the other woman openly. But soon that wasn’t sufficient. He wanted to be public about it. He wanted to be above board and the first step towards that aim was to bring “the boys” into the fold.

“Willy went first. He bumped into the Other Woman once at the palace but now he was formally summoned from Eton for a high stakes private meeting. At Highgrove I think.

Over tea I believe. It went well. I got told from Willy later but he didn’t go into details.

“My turn. I told myself ‘no big deal… just like getting an injection… close your eyes, over before you know it.’”

He added: “Neither of us fretted much about the other’s opinion. She wasn’t my mother and I wasn’t her biggest hurdle. In other words I wasn’t the heir. It was just a mere formality.”

When asked by the King later of their opinion they agreed Camilla, now the Queen Consort, had “played a pivotal role in the unveiling of our parents’ marriage and yes it meant she played a role in our mother’s disappearance but we understood that she’d been trapped like everyone else in the rip-tide of events.

“We didn’t blame her, we gladly forgive her because she can make Pa happy. We could see that.

“Pa confessed around this time that he had been persecuted as a boy. Granny and grandpa had to toughen him up and ship him off to Gordonstoun, a boarding school where he was horrendously bullied.

“The most likely victims of Gordonstoun bullies were creative types, sensitive types, bookish types, in other words Pa. His finest qualities he was beaten for by the toughs. I remember him murmuring ‘I nearly didn’t survive.’”

“After that time Teddy went everywhere with Pa. It was a pitiful object, with broken arms and dangling threads, holes patched up here in there. It looked I imagine like Pa might have after the bullies are finished with them.

“William and I agreed Pa deserved a proper companion and that’s why, when asked, William and I promised Pa that we would welcome Camilla into the family. The only thing we asked to return is that he didn’t need to marry her. The wording would cause controversy,” he said.
