Hairy Leonardo DiCaprio wins environment award

WITH a bushy beard and a man-bun, Leonardo DiCaprio morphed ever closer into Russell Brand when he accepted an award for his environmental work.

SPORTING a bushy beard and a man-bun, Leonardo DiCaprio morphed ever closer into Russell Brand when he accepted the Clinton Global Citizen Award in New York for his environmental work over the weekend.

DiCaprio, who recently narrated Carbon, a documentary on climate change, urged the public to donate to environmental causes.

“Climate change is compromising the very livability of our planet,” DiCaprio said, according to USmagazine.

“Less than three per cent of all philanthropic giving goes toward protecting and preserving our environment,” he said, before urging people “to put environmental issues at the forefront of the human agenda”.

DiCaprio accepted his award from World Wildlife Fund CEO Carter Roberts. “Now more than ever nature needs a voice. Leonardo DiCaprio is that voice,” Roberts said.

The actor also participated in the People’s Climate Change march in New York over the weekend, where he was joined by fellow stars Edward Norton, Mark Ruffalo, Sting and Evangeline Lilly.
