THE former Mrs James Packer, Erica Baxter, was among the red carpet stunners at today’s Australians in Film 6th Annual Heath Ledger Scholarship Anniversary Dinner, held in Los Angeles.

Baxter looked glam in an intricately beaded white dress, complete with chunky matching hand-bling.

She was one of many familiar Aussie faces at the event, which each year awards a $20,000 scholarship to a promising young Australian acting talent trying to make it big in Hollywood.

West Australian actor Cody Fern, 25, beat out runners up, Charlotte Best and former Home and Away star Axle Whitehead for the prize, Variety reports.

West is best known for his role as Albert in the Australian version of the National Theatre of Great Britain’s production of War Horse.

“Besides the incredible support of opening doors in Los Angeles, the award is really special personally,” Fern told The Hollywood Reporter.

“The big dreams that Heath had and his achievements in crossing the Nullarbor Desert to Sydney, then leaving Australia to make good work in Hollywood help push me.”

The Tim Minchin-hosted event drew an array of Australian names, from those who’ve made their mark in Hollywood, such as Miranda Otto, to widely recognised Aussies like Daniel Macpherson who are still carving out a niche for themselves in the US.
