ELLEN DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have put rumours of marital strife to bed by posting a very public display of affection via Twitter.

The couple celebrated their wedding anniversary last weekend and, to mark the occasion, de Rossi surprised DeGeneres with a piece of skywriting celebrating their six-year union.

The 41-year-old had the word “six” scribbled into the bright blue sky much to the delight of DeGeneres, who promptly posted a very happy snap of the two to the social media site.

“Look what my wife did for our wedding anniversary. Six!” wrote the beaming talk show host.

Skywriting has been the go-to gift from de Rossi to DeGeneres to celebrate their anniversaries, but it comes at a time when rumours of a possible split (and an alleged rehab stay for de Rossi) have circled the couple. Neither, however, has commented officially on the speculation.

Indeed, the notoriously private DeGeneres even poked fun at the rumours during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

“I read that we were getting divorced, and I went and told [Portia], and she was sad. We both were so sad.”

DeGeneres also told People mag that the couple is happier than ever. “The truth is, and this is corny,” she said. “I fall more in love with Portia all the time.”
