Double take! Kaia Gerber recreates her mother Cindy Crawford’s 1992 MTV VMAs in New York

Kaia Gerber has channelled her supermodel mother Cindy Crawford’s style with a daring outfit in New York.

She is runway royalty so it’s no wonder Kaia Gerber channelled her mother Cindy Crawford’s style in New York.

Her pick? A dominatrix-inspired leather and lace bustier — complete with collar — by Versace, which Crawford wore to the 1992 MTV VMAs.

It was a noticeably more grown-up outfit for Gerber, who turned 18 last week and wore the see-through bustier, teamed with a black mini skirt, for her birthday party at New York’s Edition hotel.

The outfit, down to Gerber’s gold accessories, smoky eyes, nude lips and voluminous hair, featured not-so-subtle oades to her mother’s trademark ’90s style.

Gerber’s burlesque-themed party was held at the Paradise Club, inside the on-trend hotel at Times Square.

The guest list included Kendall Jenner, Winnie Harlow, Leonardo DiCaprio and his girlfriend Camila Morrone, Alexander Wang, Lourdes Leon, and Brooklyn Beckham, with a performance by New York City club icon Amanda Lepore.

Of course, Cindy was there with her husband, Kaia’s father Rande Gerber.

Ahead of her birthday, genetically-blessed Kaia opened up to British Vogue about growing up.

“Being 18 … means independence. Age is very much so a concept, I think it places a label on you,” Gerber said.

“Ever since I was younger people told me I was a really old soul. Because I felt I understood things I never learned.”

Gerber, who is a regular on the runways of Versace and Chanel, strutted for luxury label Longchamp at its New York Fashion Week show over the weekend, where Jenner and Kate Moss looked on from the front row.

“My favourite thing about being a model is the people that I meet,” Gerber previously told Teen Vogue.

“I don’t think there’s any other job where you get to learn so many things about so many different people,” she added.

And that includes everyone in the front row.
