‘Can’t forgive’: Why Prince William refused truce with Prince Harry and Meghan

New detail has revealed why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the United States without a royal truce with the King and Prince William

Prince Harry and Meghan returned to the United States without mending their royal rift because Prince William “simply can’t forgive” his brother, according to a palace insider.

Quoting a source “very close to William”, royal author Katie Nicholl said the Sussexes returned to their California home soon after the Queen’s funeral after their efforts to reach a truce were rebuked by the new King and heir.

“He just cannot forgive his brother. That’s why Harry’s gone back without any truce,” Ms Nicholl told GB News.”

“William simply can’t forgive him, not just for his behaviour and what he’s done and how he’s done it. But look at how much now rests on William.

“He always thought that Harry would be his wingman. Now, William is doing it on his own. Thank goodness he’s got Kate by his side. Because together, they’re a really strong team.”

Ms Nicholl, the author of the soon-to-be-released book The New Royals – Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, told GB News anchor Dan Wooton that the Queen eventually gave up on trying to bring the brothers together.

“She was exhausted by it all, she realised there was nothing more she could do to forge a reconciliation between William and Harry,” Ms Nicholl said.

“It is terribly sad that the twilight years of her reign, when she should have been enjoying her time, spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren was really marred by this awful family rift, which, let’s be honest, doesn’t look like it’s got any chance of being healed.”

She added that the tension between the House of Wales and the House of Sussex meant Harry and Meghan would not be a part of the new royals’ future, because “they’re not part” of the royal family anymore.

“I don’t think what we’ve seen over the last couple of days is anywhere near where we hoped the brothers would be. Harry and Meghan are back in LA, and there wasn’t a sit-down dinner or any time for the brothers to try and sort things out,” she said

“There is a fundamental lack of trust between Charles and William, and Harry and Meghan because, quite simply, the royal family does not know what is going to come next with Harry and Meghan. It’s a source of a lot of concern.”
