Britney Spears’ mum has issued a public apology for any “pain” the pop star endured during her 13-year conservatorship.

Lynne Spears pleaded for her daughter’s forgiveness in an Instagram comment after Britney said in a lengthy post that “a genuine apology would help give [her] closure” in their family feud, reports the New York Post.

“I am soooo sorry for your pain! I have been sorry for years!” Lynne responded.

“I love you so much and miss you!” she continued, adding, “Britney, deep down you know how much I love and miss you! I apologise for anything and everything that’s hurt you!”

Lynne, 67, also begged Britney, 40, to “please unblock” her so that they “can speak … in person”.

A source close to Lynne told Page Six exclusively that the Spears matriarch has been “trying, trying, trying to get in touch” with Britney over the phone and feels “helpless,” leaving her with “no choice but to resort to social media”.

In the post that sparked Lynne’s mea culpa, Britney wrote on Friday that her family members have “no conscious [sic] whatsoever and really believe in their minds they have done nothing wrong at all” in regard to her conservatorship, which gave her father, Jamie Spears, control of the Toxic singer’s personal, medical and financial decisions from February 2008 until the patriarch’s suspension as conservator in September 2021.

A Los Angeles judge terminated the controversial legal arrangement altogether in November 2021, nearly five months after Britney claimed in court that Jamie, 70, had sent her to a mental health facility against her will and forced her to go on tour.

“I don’t have a family that values me or respects me …. AT ALL!” Britney added in her Instagram post. “That’s the hard part for me and as much as I loved them, it’s something that I’ll [sic] probably ever won’t be able to get over.”

A source close to Britney tells us that while Lynne never had a formal role in the conservatorship like Jamie, the star “feels more hurt by her mother’s inaction because they were always close”.

Britney and her dad, meanwhile, “had a strained relationship for years – even before the conservatorship,” according to the insider.

The Britney source also points out that despite Lynne’s “love,” she is still requesting over $US600,000 ($A923,000) in legal fees from her daughter.
