The 2024 Met Gala has come to a close for another year, with Hollywood royalty dazzling on the famed steps at fashion’s night of nights in New York.
This year’s official dress code was “The Garden of Time,” which celebrates the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story of the same title, The Garden of Time is one of the more open-ended themes we’ve seen from the Gala in recent years.
This year’s Met hosts included an Aussie in their mix: Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and none other than Australian action man Chris Hemsworth.
But the most daring look of the day went to supermodel Emily Ratajkowski, who left little to the imagination:
Also wearing next to nothing, Rita Ora - although if you look closely, you’ll notice she was actually clad in an all-over nude-coloured body stocking:
Kim Kardashian showed off an absurdly tiny waist:
Alongside her sister Kylie Jenner:
Aussie pop princess Kylie Minogue:
Fellow Aussie icon Nicole Kidman:
Rapper Cardi B always knows how to make a Met Gala entrance:
Pop stars Ariana Grande:
And Dua Lipa:
Lana Del Rey, trapped in the woods:
Doja Cat - who was seen before the Met Gala wearing nothing but bed linen - continued the theme at the event, wearing what appeared to be a wet sheet:
Last year, he arrived arm in arm with wife Deborra-Lee Furness - this year, newly-single Hugh Jackman rocked the red carpet solo:
Sydney Sweeney swapped her signature blonde locks for a cropped dark wig:
Demi Moore, ageless as ever at 61:
Co-host Hemsworth was one of the first to arrive, alongside wife Elsa Pataky:
Another Aussie arrival - Melbourne-born NBA star Ben Simmons:
Chris and Elsa’s besties, Matt Damon and wife Luciana, were also early arrivals:
Good looks run in the family - it’s Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber:
Donatella Versace arrives with some arm candy - actors Andrew Scott and Jude Law:
Rom-com queen Meg Ryan:
90s bombshell Pamela Anderson, still gorgeous as ever:
Singer and rapper Lizzo with some unusual headwear:
So-hot-right-now Espresso hitmaker Sabrina Carpenter:
Kendall Jenner looked like a Disney fairytale villain in this figure-hugging black number:
Jennifer Lopez looked as incredible as ever:
Challengers star Zendaya brought goth glam to the event:
The Emmy winner later returned to the carpet with a second look. The drama:
Jessica Biel was pretty in pink:
And is it just us, or did White Lotus star Alexandra Daddario totally just jump into Biel’s shot?
Lea Michele, ethereal - and pregnant - in baby blue:
Also in blue, legendary supermodel Naomi Campbell:
Fellow supermodel Linda Evangelista:
Australian The Crown actress Elizabeth Debicki:
Norwegian billionaire Gustav Magnar Witzoe (no, we’d never heard of him either) was a vision in beige:
Model and actress Cara Delevingne in a Joan of Arc-inspired look:
Singer Tyla’s sand-inspired gown was a work of art:
Shakira, Shakira! A welcome pop of colour among all the beige and tan:
Mindy Kaling’s wonderfully OTT dress seemed to defy the laws of physics:
Lily James brought the drama with a train that almost ran the length of the Met Gala steps:
Actress Rebecca Ferguson did a big reveal for the cameras:
Aussie pop star Troye Sivan:

A couple of sharp-looking male arrivals, actors Jamie Dornan and Josh O’Connor:
And another two - actor / rapper Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) and movie heart throb Nicholas Galitzine:
Vogue editor in chief and queen of the Met Gala, Anna Wintour:
Another of this year’s hosts, rapper Bad Bunny:
The always impeccably dressed Colman Domingo:
Aussie movie royalty, Baz Luhrmann and wife Catherine Martin:
Singer and actor Mona Patel in a moving butterfly dress:
Actor, comedian and New York icon Cole Escola:
How’s this for a celeb posse - Sienna Miller, Chemena Kamali, Greta Gerwig, Emma Mackey and Zoe Saldana:
This year, a ticket to the Gala cost an eye-watering $75,000, with tables starting at $350,000.
Last year’s Gala, which celebrated the late Karl Lagerfeld, raised a record sum of almost $22 million.
There was a minor controversy before the Gala was even underway: A male model claimed he was fired from working at this year’s event after “outshining” Kylie Jenner at last year’s ceremony.
Model Eugenio Casnighi has claimed on social media he has been let go as a greeter for today’s event because he went viral at last year’s Met Gala, his eye-catching good looks pulling focus in the background of many a celebrity photo.
