Reason for Zac Efron’s mystery pool injury in Ibiza revealed

The events leading up to actor Zac Efron’s hospitalisation after being pulled from a pool in Ibiza have been disclosed.

New details have emerged about what actually happened to Hollywood star Zac Efron after being rushed to hospital following a mystery swimming pool incident in Spain last week.

The High School Musical star was found in a pool at a luxury villa in Ibiza on Saturday by two workers who then pulled him out of the water.

TMZ reports that the 36-year-old dived into the pool during an outing with friends on the Spanish island when he hit his chest on the bottom, causing him to ingest “a large amount of water into his lungs”, as per sources.

The actor then began displaying “signs of distress” and appeared “momentarily dazed” leading to him being pulled out of the water by the members of on-site security and rushed to hospital.

Efron himself reassured his fans earlier this week he was fine, sharing an update on his Instagram story.

“Happy and healthy – thanks for the well wishes,” he posted with a photo showing him lifting weights shirtless while lying on a stability ball.

Efron’s representative previously told TMZ the star was taken to the hospital as a “precautionary measure” following a “minor incident”.

He was released from the hospital and is said to be doing “fine” now.

The Greatest Showman star was in Spain after a trip to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.

He has since flown back to Miami and was snapped keeping a low profile with a black face covering that concealed part of his eyes, a white hoodie and a baseball cap.

The incident comes after fans recently expressed concern over the star’s changing facial features, which he has attributed to a horrific accident he suffered at home.

Efron addressed the issue in 2022, saying he had to undergo corrective surgery after he “shattered” his jaw when he slipped on a pair of socks at his home, causing him to smash his chin into a granite fountain.

He told Men’s Health Magazine that he lost consciousness only to wake up with “his chin bone hanging off his face”.

Efron even appeared to reference his real-life accident in his latest movie, A Family Affair, co-starring Nicole Kidman as his love interest.

In one scene, Efron’s character talks about having a chin injury and surgery while speaking to Kidman’s character.

“I did have surgery though. I fell on set (on to) some broken glass,” Efron’s character said in the film, pointing to a scar on his chin.
