Vanessa Hudgens has slammed the paparazzi for revealing that she and husband Cole Tucker have given birth to their first baby.
Photos of Hudgens were published by various outlets yesterday, showing the actress and her Major League Baseball player husband leaving a Santa Monica hospital in California with their newborn baby.
The High School Musical star, 35, was seen being pushed in a wheelchair by a nurse as she made her way to their waiting car, while Tucker was not far behind, carting the baby’s belongings.
The new mum wore a pair of dark sunglasses as she cradled her baby lovingly, apparently unaware that photographers were snapping away.
She has since used social media to criticise the photographers for violating her family’s privacy on the day, which also happened to be Tucker’s 28th birthday.
“We’re disappointed that our family’s privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media,” she wrote in an Instagram Story posted on Friday morning.
“Despite all of that, mom dad and baby are happy and healthy,” she concluded, not announcing the newborn’s sex and name.
Hudgens had kept most of her pregnancy under wraps, only revealing the news at the Oscars in March when she walked the red carpet heavily pregnant.
After delighting fans with her subtle announcement at the ceremony, the actress then proudly displayed her baby bump in a sheer black gown at the Vanity Fair Oscars Afterparty.
Hudgens was just as secretive when she married Tucker in December 2023, a wedding which came 10 months after he proposed by the Eiffel Tower in Paris and three years after they first started dating.
The pair then made it official with an intimate ceremony in Tulum, Mexico, which Hudgens said was unplugged.
“It was genuinely the most magical weekend of my life,” Hudgens told Vogue after the wedding. “I am so grateful that we got to have a private wedding, and it helped that I took everyone’s phones away.”
“It was amazing because at the dinner, I would look around and everyone was talking to each other — our family and friend groups coming together and creating real relationships … Seeing that and bringing everyone together and celebrating us, it was just so magical.”
