Taylor Swift feels ‘exploited’ by Blake Lively after being subpoenaed in legal war

“Completely floored”: The singer is reportedly devastated at being caught up in the centre of a legal escalation in Blake Lively’s legal war.

Taylor Swift has reportedly been left “completely floored” by an escalation in the legal war between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni which has seen her officially drawn in.

The singer, 35, was subpoenaed as a witness in the case on Friday, which the Daily Mail reports has left her feeling “very upset” and “exploited” by Lively, despite the fact it was the lawyer for her It Ends With Us co-star, Justin Baldoni, who called her up.

The publication adds that Swift blames the actress for the fact she’s involuntarily part of the saga, with a source revealing: “Taylor has been aware that Blake has been exploiting her name for a while now, but this subpoena takes it to a whole new level.”

The pair has been friends for a decade, and Swift is even godmother to all three of the actress’ daughters with Ryan Reynolds.

The inclusion of Swift in the court battle has added even more attention to the high-profile battle between Lively and Baldoni, which began in December when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni for emotional distress and lost wages.

A month later, Baldoni returned serve, suing Lively – as well as Reynolds – for US$400 million ($A623 million).

Baldoni then claimed Lively had weaponised her friendship with Swift to try and leverage creative control of their film, which he was directing.

At the time, Page Six reported that his complaint referenced how one of Lively’s “famous, and famously close” friends had been at her and Reynolds’ NYC home when he was invited over one evening.

He claimed that the celebrity in question had praised Lively’s script rewrites to him, referencing the “rooftop scene” where the main characters first meet.

“I really love what you did. It really does help a lot,” Baldoni wrote in a text written about their meeting.

“Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan or Taylor).”

Lively then responded, calling Swift and Reynolds her “creative barometers” and “dragons”.

“The message could not have been clearer. Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively’s ‘dragons,’ two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him,” Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, alleged.

However, a source close to Swift told the Daily Mail that she had had no involvement, and had arrived at her friend’s home to find the meeting already underway.

The singer’s publicist released a statement on Friday, shortly after she was subpoenaed, categorically denying she had any involvement or influence over the making of the movie.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release,” the spokesman said.

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, My Tears Ricochet [on the soundtrack].”

Meanwhile, it was also reported earlier this year that Swift wasn’t thrilled to have been dragged into the drama, with Page Six citing a source claiming the singer “can’t help but feel used” by Lively.

It’s since been claimed that Lively reached out to apologise to her longtime friend for her involvement in the situation, with an insider claiming “it was never her intention to hurt Taylor or cause any harm to their friendship” and she was hoping to “put this whole thing behind them”.

A spokesman for Lively also released a statement on Friday following the latest legal development.

“Mr Baldoni [continues] to turn a case of sexual harassment and retaliation into entertainment for the tabloids, going as far as suggesting that they sell tickets to a concert venue – Madison Square Garden – to witness Ms. Lively’s deposition, to subpoenaing Taylor Swift, a woman who has given a voice to millions the world over.”
