Worrying images of actor David Hasselhoff have emerged, showing the star confined to a wheelchair.
In the photos which surfaced on Wednesday, the Baywatch star was assisted by airport staff as he was wheeled through the terminal in Cancun, Mexico.
Although appearing frail, the 72-year-old was in good spirits, flashing a smile and waving to fans ahead of his flight back to Los Angeles International Airport.
Upon arrival at LAX, Hasselhoff was again seen being pushed by airport attendants before meeting his wife, Hayley Roberts.
The actor was then observed limping as he leaned on the 45-year-old Welsh model while they made their way through the terminal.
As concerns for the Knight Rider star grew, his reps released a statement to reassure fans that the actor was fine and simply due for surgery next week.
“He was seen in a wheelchair because he’s having a knee replacement surgery next week,” his rep told Us Weekly.
However, despite the statement, sources told the Daily Mail that Hasselhoff’s health “has been declining for some time now”, a result of “decades of alcoholism”.
“David is living on borrowed time and has lived hard,” a source told the outlet.
“He had a life that people could only dream of, but he also spent decades self-medicating through alcohol and other substances, which he does regret.”
The sighting comes two months after Hasselhoff’s ex-wife, Pamela Bach, was found dead inside her LA home.
The actress, who shared two children with Hasselhoff, reportedly died by suicide, aged 62.
“Our family is deeply saddened by the recent passing of Pamela Hasselhoff. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time, but we kindly request privacy as we grieve and navigate through this challenging time,” he said in a statement to TMZ at the time.
Bach, who also appeared in the iconic lifeguard series as cafe owner Kaye Morgan from 1991 to 2000, was married to the actor from 1989 to 2006.
They had a contentious divorce, with discussions about spousal support continuing into 2017.
The couple first met when Bach made a cameo in a 1985 episode of Knight Rider. She is survived by their two daughters, Taylor, 34, and Hayley, 32.
