Dannii Minogue labelled Russell Brand as ‘vile predator’ as BBC launches investigation

The British Prime Minister’s office called the report against Russell Brand “serious allegations” that needed to be investigated.

Russell Brand denies 'very serious allegations' ahead of TV investigation documentary

Russell Brand has been accused of raping, sexually assaulting and abusing four women over the course of seven years – and one victim was a 16-year-old he allegedly called “the child,” according to a bombshell report the British actor and comedian denied prior to its release.

The allegations against the 48-year-old stem from the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013, according to a joint investigation published by The Sunday Times of London, the Times of London and Channel 4 Dispatches.

Downing Street urged the BBC and Channel 4 to set out the results of their investigations into Brand “transparently” but declined to urge broadcasters and streaming platforms such as YouTube and Netflix to take down Brand’s output.

The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “It’s a decision for all broadcasters to consider the right approach in light of these very serious allegations. They are deeply concerning, they need to be investigated.

“But I’m not going to dictate the actions of broadcasters or streaming services.”

Australian pop star Dannii Minogue labelled Brand as a “vile predator” as broadcasters launch an urgent investigations into his historical conduct.

The Daily Mail UK reports that Minogue told the Mirror in 2006: “He is completely crazy and a bit of a vile predator. I certainly don’t think he has cured his sex addiction, that’s for sure.”

“He wouldn’t take no for an answer. He always goes that step too far. Never quite far enough to slap his face, but usually too far,” she added.

“He’s obviously very intelligent – but he wears more make-up than I do. Normally I love guys with eyeliner on. It can be very sexy, but not on Russell. Absolutely no way, never, he’s just not my type.

“I was told he got sacked from MTV in the past for wearing an Osama bin Laden costume to work the day after September 11.

“I couldn’t believe that I’d just agreed to be interviewed by someone who would do something like that, it really unnerved me. And then throughout the whole interview, he kept making shocking remarks that I can’t even repeat. Just uttering the words would make me blush.”

Meanwhile, the BBC said it was “urgently looking into the issues raised” by the publication while the Metropolitan police has appealed for any potential victims to come forward.

Channel 4 has also pulled all of Brand’s content from its streaming service while it investigates.

“We are aware of media reporting of a series of allegations of sexual assault. At this time, we have not received any reports in relation to this,” a Met Police spokesperson said.

“If anyone believes they have been the victim of a sexual assault, no matter how long ago it happened, we would encourage them to contact police.

“We spoke with The Sunday Times on Saturday 16 September. We will be making further approaches to The Sunday Times and Channel 4 to ensure that any victims of crime who they have spoken with are aware of how they may report any criminal allegations to police.”

UK foreign secretary James Cleverly said the investigation has prompted wider questions for the entertainment industry.

“I think there are some real challenges where you have these very, very acute differentials in power, whether that be in the entertainment industry, whether that be in politics, and we see this in the commercial world as well,” Mr Cleverly told BBC.

“I think we have to be particularly careful when we listen to the voices of the people who are relatively powerless because we, I think, collectively have missed opportunities to do the right thing and intervene much, much earlier, and we’ve got to be better at this.”

KATY PERRY HINTED AT ‘REAL TRUTH’ ABOUT RUSSELL BRAND

Katy Perry seemingly hinted at Russell Brand’s secrets years before sexual abuse claims came to light.

In a 2013 interview with Vogue, which has resurfaced amid the ongoing allegations against Brand, the “Firework” singer spoke about her “controlling” ex-husband and their “really hurtful” marriage.

Perry, 38, told the outlet she was “in love” with Brand, 48, when she married him in India on Oct. 23, 2010. However, the two divorced just 14 months later after she received a break-up text from him on New Year’s Eve in 2011.

She admitted that she initially blamed herself for the split – until she “found out the real truth” about the comedian, Page Six reports.

“At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, ‘I can’t handle the equalness.’ He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting,” Perry said at the time.

“I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like, ‘This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me.’ So I have moved on from that.”

Perry has yet to disclose what “truth” she was alluding to in that interview, but many fans are now speculating that she was referring to Brand’s dark past amid the new allegations.

Perry refused to elaborate on what she knew about Brand beyond those cryptic comments, with fans speculating at the time that Brand could have been jealous and unsupportive of his ex-wife’s stardom, which eclipsed his own.

According to the New York Post, one woman, identified as “Nadia,” alleged Brand raped her against the wall of his Los Angeles home in 2012 and was treated at a rape crisis centre the same day, according to medical records cited by the outlets.

The woman later told Brand that she had been scared and felt taken advantage of, telling him, “When a girl [says] NO, it means no” — to which he responded he was “very sorry,” text messages cited by the report show.

Another accuser who was 16 at the time alleged that the then-31-year-old called her “the child” and assaulted her during their “emotionally abusive and controlling” three-month relationship, according to the report.

The woman — who is known only by the pseudonym “Alice” and was above the age of consent in the UK — said Brand was “grooming” her, an allegation a relative backed up to the Sunday Times during its investigation.

Alice said he told her to read Vladimir Nabokov’s novel Lolita, about a man obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, save his number in her phone under the name “Carly” and even gave her “scripts” to lie to her parents.

“It was isolating,” she told the outlet.

Brand allegedly sent a car to take Alice out of school and to his home, she said. On one occasion, his driver told her not to go into the comedian’s home.

“‘Please. I’m asking you not to go in there. You could be my little girl, and I would want someone to do this for her,” Alice recalled the chauffer saying.

Allegations from Brand’s other accusers included a woman who claimed he sexually assaulted her at his property in West Hollywood after they met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, according to the Times of London.

The woman, identified as “Phoebe,” said at one point she realised other staff left and she was alone with Brand.

She alleges that he trapped her in a bedroom and chased her around before pinning her down and assaulting her.

“I saw something come over his eyes, I swear to God, like, black, his eyes had no more colour, they were black, like the devil,” she recalled to the outlet. “Like a different person literally entered his body.”

Brand denied the allegations in a pre-emptively released video on YouTube and X, formerly Twitter, alerting fans to “serious criminal” allegations that he said would be made against him.

He said the claims were part of a “co-ordinated attack” by the media and he had witnesses whose evidence “directly contradicts the narrative”.

RUSSELL BRAND’S $31M EMPIRE

Russell Brand has amassed a $31 million fortune and has luxury cars and homes in the UK and the US.

Brand is reportedly worth $31 million, and lives in a $6.2m Oxfordshire cottage with his pregnant wife, Laura, and their two children.

The nearly 4000-square-foot property, which overlooks the River Thames, is equipped with a pool and home theatre, reported the New York Post.

He is also the proud owner of a luxurious car collection, including a $108,000 Volvo XC90 and a $186,000 Jaguar F-TYPE.

According to The Richest, he also owns a $3.4 million home in the Hollywood Hills.

Brand and his current wife married in 2017.

The comedian and his former wife Katy Perry did not have a pre-nuptial agreement and he is understood not to have sought a payout from her when their marriage ended after 14 months.

Reports suggest the Roar singer made six times more money than he did during their relationship.

It comes as the talent agency that represented British comedian Russell Brand, Tavistock Wood, has severed ties with him alleging they have been “misled”.

“Russell Brand categorically and vehemently denied the allegation made in 2020, but we now believe we were horribly misled by him,” the agency said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “TW has terminated all professional ties to Brand.”

Brand went ahead with his gig in Wembley Park Theatre on Saturday night local time.

During his set, he thanked the crowd for showing up and standing with him.

“I really appreciate your support. I love you,” he said.

“I want to do a fantastic show for you. I’ve got a lot of things to talk to you about,” he said "There are obviously some things that I absolutely cannot talk about – and I appreciate that you will understand.”
