It seems like the royals are in dire need of help to fix their image, with Buckingham Palace on the hunt for a new communications assistant amid speculation and media mishaps surrounding Princess Catherine.
The Royal Household — responsible for supporting members of the British royal family — have listed a job advertisement seeking a communications assistant.
The responsibilities for the role, advertised online in recent days, include responding to media inquiries about the work of royal family members and producing social media updates.
The Palace’s Private Secretary department is searching for someone to work a Monday through Friday schedule, who will annually be paid a measly $32,000, (AUD$48,700) according to the job posting.
Benefits include 25 days of annual leave, a pension plan and even 20 per cent off at any of Royal Collection Trust gift shops across England.
“The Royal Communications team promotes the work, role, relevance and value of the Royal Family to a worldwide audience,” the advertisement read. “The reaction to our work is always high-profile, and so reputation and impact will be at the forefront of all that you do.”
“Whether working on a state visit, ceremonial event or royal engagement, you’ll make sure our communications consistently spark interest and reach a range of audiences.”
The post went on to note that the candidate must have “outstanding interpersonal skills” and be able “to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.”
“Basic working knowledge of Excel” is a must, too.
While this job is posted for Buckingham Palace — and not Kensington Palace, the official London residence of Prince William and Catherine — the posting notes that the royal communications team members promote “the work, role, relevance and value of the Royal Family to a worldwide audience.”
KATE’S INCREDIBLE GESTURE
Meanwhile, Princess Catherine has carried out an incredible gesture for the Irish Guards after missing out on a St Patrick’s Day parade.
The royal, who is honorary colonel of the regiment, had to sit out of last week’s celebrations as she continues to recover from abdominal surgery.
Unable to raise her usual Guinness toast with soldiers, the Princess of Wales made sure she was there in spirit.
Princess Catherine put A$4000 behind the regimental bar for a party after the traditional parade.
The generous beer tokens saw at least 700 pints of Guinness pulled for the guards, reports MailOnline.
Members from the Irish Guards gave three cheers to absent Kate – raising their bearskin helmets into the air as a mark of respect.
It was the first parade the Princess of Wales had missed in seven years.
It comes as Princess Catherine remains absent from any royal duties until after the Easter holidays.
Royal staff are said to be preparing for her return to public life after her lengthy recovery following abdominal surgery.
Two former aides who have experience in public relations, have been consulted about the future queen’s comeback, reports the Mirror.
The pair are responsible for devising the royal’s schedule for when she feels healthy and well enough to return, it is understood.
Earlier this week video emerged of the Wales’ laughing and shopping at Windsor Farm shop.
Conspiracy theorists have claimed the footage is not the Princess of Wales who has not been seen in public since Christmas Day.
She underwent abdominal surgery in January.
It was also revealed this week that staff allegedly tried to view Princess Catherine’s medical records during her stay at The London Clinic. Three staff members are allegedly under investigation.
CAMILLA GIVES UPDATE ON CHARLES’ HEALTH
Queen Camilla has given royal fans an update on King Charles’ health and joked she is “trying to keep him in order”.
The Queen stepped in for her husband during a quick trip to Northern Ireland on Thursday local time.
King Charles has stepped back from public duties after he was diagnosed with cancer in January.
According to a report in The Sun, Queen Camilla smiled as she arrived to crowds of wellwishers on the bustling Lisburn Road in south Belfast.
During a visit to The Arcadia deli, shop assistant Brenda Robb handed over a get-well card for King Charles, and extended her best wishes.
Queen Camilla took the card with thanks, adding: “He’s doing very well …. he was very disappointed he couldn’t come.”
Responding to a joke about men “not being the best patients”, the Queen said: “I try to keep him in order.”
She met owners and staff at Coffey’s Butchers, The Arcadia deli and Knotts Bakery before doing an impromptu meet and greet with royal fans.
Queen Camilla will also marked World Poetry Day by hosting an event for the Queen’s Reading Room at Hillsborough Castle.
Ms Robb added: “She was beautiful, a real lady. She accepted a get-well card that I got for her husband and she said she was sorry her husband wasn’t here.
“It was a very appropriate card. It had a wee saying from Belfast, basically rest up, take care, and on the back of it, it said from Ireland. It was picked with love.
“People say maybe he’ll not get the card, but I think he will.”
King Charles was seen leaving Clarence House on Thursday, flanked by police cars. He headed to Buckingham Palace where he had private audiences with Tanzania’s High Commissioner, Mbelwa Kairuki and Singapore’s High Commissioner, Ng Teck Hean.
The King has kept a low profile since his cancer diagnosis, narrowing his duties to meeting with foreign dignitaries at Buckingham Palace but the monarch is said to be determined to attend his official birthday celebrations on June 15 at Trooping the Colour.
