Kate Middleton cheers on England at Rugby World Cup quarter-final in France

Princess Catherine has dazzled onlookers after taking over a role once held by exiled royal Prince Harry before the Megxit fallout.

The Princess of Wales turned out to support England as they played their quarter-final against Fiji in the Rugby World Cup, in Marseille, France.

Princess Catherine hoped England did better than Wales, who lost to Argentina on Sunday while Prince William and Prince George cheered them on.

The 41-year-old looked characteristically smart yet relaxed, dressed in an off-white blazer from Zara.

Catherine was seen laughing and chatting with spectators in the stadium, and earnestly singing the national anthem at Stade de Marseille, cheering on the team and clapping, as well as watching the play with great interest.

The Princess was joined by tens of thousands of England fans who took over the South of France port city.

Catherine proved to be a lucky charm for her team as England won 30 to 24, even though the Flying Fijians beat the Red Roses at Twickenham earlier this year.

The Princess is known to be super-fit and a keen sports fan but since February 2022, she has also been patron of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League, taking over the role from Prince Harry.

She had previously shared her concern about a finger injury she sustained while playing on the trampoline with her children when she took part in a wheelchair rugby training session run by members of the England Wheelchair Rugby League squad.

Royal watchers had wondered if the Princess would bring some of her children, but she chose to attend alone.

It comes after Prince George, 10, put on an expressive display as he watched Wales take on Argentina in the quarterfinal of the Rugby World Cup.

The royal, 10, travelled to France with Prince William to cheer on Wales at the Stade de Marseille on Saturday, wearing a matching blue suit and red tie ensemble with his father.

George, a future Prince of Wales, arrived with his father, who is patron of the Welsh Rugby Union.
