Prince Harry almost quit royal life years before he married Meghan Markle, it has emerged.

In a resurfaced 2017 interview with author and biographer Angela Levin, the Duke of Sussex, 38, claimed he “wanted out” of The Firm.

Levin, the author of Harry: A Biography of a Prince, had spoken to the royal about his desire for an “ordinary life” and later relayed their conversation in her Daily Mail column.

“I spent many years kicking my heels and I didn’t want to grow up,” Prince Harry said in the newly resurfaced interview.

“I felt I wanted out but then decided to stay in and work out a role for myself,” he added.

The now LA-based father of two went on to say how he is “determined to have a relatively normal life” and hoped that he would be lucky enough to have children in the future.

He then told of the traumatic experience of walking with his brother Prince William behind their mother Princess Diana’s coffin at her 1997 funeral at the tender age of 12.

“I don’t think any child should be asked to do that, under any circumstances. It certainly wouldn’t happen today,” he recalled.
Levin then described the youngest son of King Charles as a “wounded prince”.

Barely two years after their fairytale royal wedding, the couple stepped down from senior royal life and left the UK to set up new lives in California, signing big money deals with Netflix and Spotify.

It comes amid reports Meghan is determined not to “buckle” from the pressure of being a celebrity and won’t give up” on her mission as it’s “her and Harry against the world”.

“A lot of their US friends are advising them to stop trying to take on the world,” a source reportedly told Heat magazine.

“But Meghan’s saying they won’t give up.”

“For Meghan it’s crucial they don’t buckle, no matter how tough it gets. It really is her and Harry against the world at this point.”
