Did Prince Harry just get inked?
The New York Post’s Page Six obtained a video of the Duke of Sussex, complete with security entourage, making a visit to high-end tattoo parlour East Side Ink on Friday.
The Lower East Side tattoo parlour is beloved by celebrities with the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson known to have visited.
The surprising stopover comes after the prince dropped the F-bomb, as well as many others bleeped out, after braving a haunted maze experience that was aired on Jimmy Fallon’s popular American television program The Tonight Show.
In a video shared on Friday, the Duke of Sussex appeared with the talk-show host at the scary attraction in New York City’s Rockefeller Center, and said he was “not normally scared”.
However, that changed within seconds when Prince Harry entered a lift at the spooky attraction dubbed ‘Tonightmares’ and was sent screaming as it spiralled down towards a lower floor.
Prince Harry, who is in New York for a week without his wife, Meghan Markle, then panicked when he noticed a ghoul-like figure in a dark corridor after the lift doors opened.
“Is that a panda?” he asked, before another creepy figure he had spotted then darted towards him.
“You’re afraid of pandas!” Fallon exclaimed, to which Prince Harry said: “No, I’m not!”.
Amid the spooky shenanigans, Prince Harry, who just turned 40 two weeks ago, managed a laugh.
At one point, he spotted a bloodied man, prompting Prince Harry to ask jokingly, “Is that Michael Bublé?”
The pair continued through the maze, with other highlights displayed throughout the three-minute video showing Prince Harry completely taken by surprise.
And just when he thought the terrifying experience was over, there was one final heart-pounding moment when a character popped up at the end of the maze just as Prince Harry and Fallon were about to take a photograph to mark the occasion.
He reacted as if he were going to punch the figure that spooked him, before smiling and laughing.
It comes amid revelations former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson tried to persuade Prince Harry not to leave the UK, according to a disclosure in Mr Johnson’s memoir, Unleashed.
Johnson was asked by Buckingham Palace officials to give the Duke of Sussex a “manly pep talk” to convince him not to step back from his royal duties, The Telegraph reported.
It was “a ridiculous business,” he said. The Duke left for Canada the next day.
Prince Harry was in New York this week to attend a number of events during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week and Climate Week.
Prince Harry referenced his late mother during a speech to young global activists during one of those events, a panel for The Diana Award, a non-profit organisation founded after the late princess’s death at age 36 in 1997.
He paid tribute to award recipients, Chiara Riyanti Hutapea Zhang, 18, of Indonesia, and Christina Williams, 27, of Jamaica.
“I applaud you for certainly, [at] your age, to be on this stage, to have the confidence that you do, and to be able to speak as clearly and as passionately as you do,” Prince Harry said.
“And I know that my mum would be incredibly proud of you guys — not just you, but all of the award winners.”
