Positive Kate Middleton development amid cancer battle: ‘Excited’

There’s been a positive development behind-the-scenes as the Princess of Wales continues to undergo treatment for cancer.

Princess Kate issues first major update since cancer diagnosis

There’s been a positive development in the Princess of Wales’ treatment for cancer, with news that she has begun working again behind the scenes.

Kate, who has been out of action for the majority of the year so far following her diagnosis, was well enough to be briefed on the findings of her early years task-force recently, and has been “kept up-to-date” on its progress throughout, according to The Sun.

The Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood’s executive director, Christian Guy, revealed that she was “excited” by the campaign and that the initiative was “rolling on as [Kate] recovers”.

The project is particularly close to the mum-of-three’s heart, and has been a key focus of her work since she launched it last March.

The Taskforce combines business leaders from billion-dollar companies to brainstorm ways to create a more successful approach to children’s early years, in a bid to provide long-term gains to the UK economy.

While Kate’s involvement in its progress is clearly a positive sign in her health battle, a Kensington Palace spokesman told The Sun that it was not an indication of her official return to work.

“This should not be seen as the Princess of Wales returning to work,” the spokesman cautioned.

“The work of the prince and princess’s projects are always on. That is no different at The Centre for Early Childhood Over the past five months there has been a huge deal of progress.

“However, early childhood is a huge priority for the Princess of Wales.

“She has been kept fully up to date throughout the process and the development of the task force’s work and she has seen the report.”

In March, Kate herself was compelled to release an emotional, two-minute video revealing that she was undergoing preventive treatment for cancer as the speculation about her health and prolonged absence from the spotlight hit fever pitch.

“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful, however, tests after the operation found cancer had been present,” she explained.

“My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’m now in the early stages of that treatment.”

Kate added that the news had come as a “huge shock”.

“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay.

“As I’ve said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits.”

Earlier this month, William provided a rare update on his wife’s welfare while visiting a hospital on the Isles of Scilly, just off the coast of Cornwall.

He was asked about Kate, to which he assured that she was “doing well” as she continues to undergo treatment.
