Meghan Markle’s fiercest critic, Piers Morgan, said she had no choice but to turn down the King’s invitation to the Coronation, given her waning popularity and “irrelevance”.
The firebrand television personality, who is adamant the Duchess of Sussex strategicly set out to marry a prince, remove him from his family and make money from their royal titles, also lambasted Prince Harry for having the “brass neck” to attend.
“How do you have the brass neck after several years of trashing your family in the most repulsive public manner on national television and in documentaries, and then have the brass neck to turn up at the coronation as if nothing’s happened and sit among all these people who you’ve been savaging in public?” Morgan said.
“I think it is quite extraordinary. I completely understand why (King) Charles feels conflicted about it, but most of you ask, most of the British public will be thinking, ‘why the hell is he coming?’
“Why come to the absolute epicentre of the institution?
“She’s (Meghan) kind of irrelevant now. She’s made her bed and she’s lying in it in California.
“I just find it staggering that Harry thinks it’s okay to then just rock up at the Coronation”.
Morgan, whose news show Uncensored reached its one year anniversary on Wednesday, went on: “And she knows nobody wants her in the UK.
“What she has done comes at a price. She now has no involvement or connection with almost anyone in her own family apart from her mother, none of Harry’s family.
“Harry’s lost his contact with the family – none of that would make me happy but, Harry, you shouldn’t be talking to your family in public. You crossed the line.”
In an angry tirade, he continued: “I don’t think either of them should go to the Coronation.”
Morgan said he’d welcome an interview with Pope Francis on the show and actor Jack Nicholson.
“I’m a Catholic, so I’d love to interview the Pope. I think he’s really great, he’s a fascinating guy. We’d probably get into an animated debate about football, whether Argentina or England is the better team because he’s a massive football fan. I support Arsenal so we’re normally top of the league,” he said.
“And Jack Nicholson has always been one of the holy grails.
“He believes that the mystique of a movie star relies on not showing too much of yourself. That’s a very smart thing, but it would be an amazing interview.”
As for hosting Meghan Markle – who will mark her son Archie’s fourth birthday on the day of the Coronation with a party at the home she shares with Prince Harry in Montecito – on the show?
“No, she’s irrelevant now,” he said.
Uncensored has hit the one million mark amid Youtube viewers and airs in Britain, Australia and America.
“I’ve always loved Australia and Australian people. I think they broadly share my view that this woke culture and phenomenon is completely ridiculous,” he said.
“That resonates with a lot of Australians and I think we have a shared commonality, Australia and Britain. We love cricket. We’ve got the Ashes coming to summer, obviously that’s going to be a little bit tense between the two countries. And I love the Aussie sense of humour.”
