Palace insider accuses Meghan Markle of ‘deliberate’ attack on royal family

The Duchess is facing a claim from a Palace insider that she is behind the leak of the names involved in the shocking royal race row.

Meghan Markle has been accused of being behind the leak of the names of the two royals involved in the race-row.

King Charles and Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, were accidentally named in Dutch copies of Omid Scobie’s new biography, Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival.

The pair, who were accused by Ms Markle in a letter to King Charles of commenting on her baby Archie’s skin colour, were then named by Piers Morgan during an episode of his Uncensored series on Wednesday in a move that has sparked major backlash.

“I’m going to cut through all this crap. I’m going to tell you the names of the two senior royals who are named in that Dutch version of the book,” he said. “The royals who are named in this book are King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales.”

Now, a senior Palace insider has claimed that it’s “unlikely” the names ever came from Ms Markle’s letter which is currently “under lock and key”.

“It’s vanishingly unlikely the names came from here,” the insider told The Sun. 

Another source close to the Palace insisted that the most likely culprits behind the leaked names would be the Sussex camp.

“That letter is under lock and key and no one from within the King’s circle would’ve briefed anyone about its contents,” said the insider. “In all likelihood, it must have been the Sussex camp which leaked the names.”

The source added: “It’s a nasty and deliberate attack”.

Both Ms Markle and Prince Harry are yet to comment on the leak or the subsequent controversy.

It comes after Xander Publishers, the company behind the book, announced on Tuesday that it had received a request from the United States to abruptly halt sales of the book.

“I can’t talk about the details,” a spokesman for the publishing house said in a statement.

“We have, however, received a request to put the title on hold, and that is what we have done. We are awaiting further instructions. I do not know how long this will be.”

Ms Markle first made the allegation during her sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

The former actress would not say who the alleged conversations were with, but she claimed there were “several” about the potential colour of Archie’s skin.

“About how dark your baby is going to be?” a stunned Winfrey asked, prompting Ms Markle – who is bi-racial – to reply, “Potentially, and what that would mean or look like.”

Asked about the comments later in the interview, Harry, 39, refused to elaborate much more.

“That conversation I am never going to share, but at the time, it was awkward,” he said. “I was a bit shocked.”
