Meghan Markle has won the defamation case brought against her by her half-sister after a court threw out the case, according to new reports.

The Duchess of Sussex was accused by Samantha Markle of spreading “malicious, hurtful, and damaging lies” over the comments she made with her husband, Prince Harry, in an interview with Oprah and on her Netflix show Harry and Meghan, the New York Post reports.

In her latest decision published on Tuesday, US District Judge Charlene Edwards Honeywell ordered the case never be brought back to court after Samantha had “failed to identify any statements that could support a claim for defamation or defamation-by-implication,” The Mirror reports.

The judge noted this was the third time Samantha had tried to amend the complaint against her sibling, seeking $US75,000 ($113,500) in damages.

Samantha, 59, claims Meghan, 42, defamed her when she told Oprah during a bombshell 2021 interview that she “grew up as an only child” and didn’t have much of a relationship with her half-sibling.

Meghan’s characterisation of their relationship conflicts with the one Samantha chronicled in own book, The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister Part 1.

Samantha also claimed the Duchess defamed her by revealing information in her biography, Finding Freedom, that allegedly destroyed their father’s “reputation and credibility in order to preserve and promote a false ‘rags-to-royalty’ narrative”,

Lawyers for Samantha could not be immediately reached for comment. It is unclear if the older Markle sister will file an appeal.

The Duchess of Sussex has yet to comment on the court’s ruling.

Samantha’s case had been previously tossed out in March 2022 after the judge found Meghan’s remarks were opinions and “not capable of being proven false”.

The judge gave Samantha’s team another chance to amend their complaint, with this third attempt dismissed with prejudice, meaning she cannot make the claim again in court.
