A royal insider has revealed just why Prince Harry cut Crown star – and fellow Old Etonian – Dominic West out of his life.

West told a British podcast he’d said “too much” about his friendship with the prince during a trek to the South Pole in 2014, but now more details have emerged.

Among the anecdotes that West told was how they had toasted their victory over the elements by drinking champagne from one of their co-adventurers’ prosthetic legs.

“Harry threw a s*** fit,” royal insider Richard Eden wrote in the Daily Mail. “He accused Dominic of invading his privacy. Dominic told him not to be ridiculous. They haven’t spoken since.”

According to Eden’s source, the Duke of Sussex is said to have since taken against anyone whom he suspects of being a friend of the actor’s.

At the press conference in 2014, West talked candidly about how the team had celebrated after completing their 208-mile trek in the previous year.

“Two of the Aussie guys stripped naked and ran round the pole but most of us, Harry included, just went on a two-day bender with the Icelandic truck drivers who had brought some lethal home brew with them,” he added.

“There was a lot of liqueur drunk. We all drank champagne out of [one of the team’s] favourite prosthetic legs.”

The acclaimed 54-year-old actor, who starred in The Wire and The Affair, has said of their broken friendship: “We sort of [lost touch because] I said too much in a press conference, and so, we didn’t speak after that.”

West, who plays King Charles on the hit Netflix series, was further pressed during a Times Radio podcast to elaborate more on his broken friendship with the Duke of Sussex.

He explained their falling out occurred a year after they returned from the Walking With the Wounded charity event in 2013 — a trip with injured veterans through Antarctica.

While the actor didn’t detail the specifics, he seemingly referred to his comments at the press conference in 2014.

“[Harry] was very much part of the team,” West, 54, shared at the time.

“He seemed to specialise in building latrines. He built this incredible castellated structure with blocks to keep out the wind, and it even had a [toilet] roll holder.”

Reflecting on the past comments the actor gave context: “I think I was asked what we did.”

“[And] what we did to celebrate when we got there and [I] probably said too much,” he continued.

West — who’s been on The Crown since Season 5 said because their friendship ended “over 10 years ago,” he wasn’t able to ask Prince Harry for advice on how to play his father, King Charles.

According to the New York Post, Prince Harry has confessed he’s watched the show and is “more comfortable” with how producers tell the story of his family in comparison to other projects.

MEGHAN COULD BE QUIZZED OVER ‘ROYAL RACISTS’ ROW

Meghan Markle could be questioned under oath about the identity of the so-called “royal racists”.

Lawyers want to quiz Ms Markle over “family matters” as part of her half-sister Samantha Markle’s libel action against her in the US.

And according to a report in The Sun, lawyer Peter Ticktin, who is representing the Duchess of Sussex’s half-sister, said the Royal Family racism accusations “need to be explored”.

In the Dutch translation of his book Endgame, writer Omid Scobie identified King Charles and Princess Catherine as those alleged to have asked Ms Markle and Prince Harry what colour their son Archie’s skin could be.

Samantha Markle claims she has been subjected to “worldwide hatred, contempt, and ridicule” as a result of Ms Markle and Prince Harry’s comments in their Netflix series and in the 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Her lawsuit alleges the Duchess of Sussex’s claim she grew up an only child and half-sister Samantha Markle only changed her name back to Markle after she began dating Prince Harry made her look like a “liar for profit and fame”.

Mr Ticktin told The Sun he will demand the Sussexes submit to a deposition — a formal interview under oath as part of a US lawsuit.

Mr Ticktin said: “The royal racists issue needs to be explored.

“There’s reasons why she abandoned her family and turned on her family.

“This is a person who wants to be able to say horrible things and not really care if she destroyed the lives of people in her family.

“She doesn’t care if she destroys the monarchy.”

Mr Ticktin said Ms Markle’s lawyers were “stonewalling” their requests for information in the case in the hope that a judge would dismiss it.

But he said he will file a motion with the court next month demanding they hand documents over.
